Football Update: EPL news- Aston Villa vs. Tottenham Hotspur Review (Part II)
Aston Villa made a half-time change, with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jonathan-Hogg-c19027. Aston Villa made an encouraging start to the half as they managed to earn a corner – from the subsequent corner Stiliyan
Petrov fluffed his shot wide after being left unmarked from eight yards out. Villa looked like working the ball a bit well in opening exchanges and were keeping possession a lot better since the break. Spurs were starting to invite pressure which could lead
to a long 40 minutes or so.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabian-Delph-c13098 went into the book for a clumsy challenge on Rafael van der Vaart - though in the Villa midfielder's defence it was a bit of skill from the Dutchman that would have bamboozled far more experienced players than him.
There was a lot of huff and puff from Villa in this half, but with 15 minutes in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nathan-Delfouneso-c27377 looked bright since coming on and slammed in a shot from the angle, Heurelho Gomes was up to it and pushed the
shot around the post.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/James-Collins-c17687 easily cleared.
Tottenham Struck again with a Fabulous counter-attack, Rafael van der Vaart's flick set Gareth Bale running from inside his own half, he busted into the box and fed Aaron Lennon, who cut the ball back to Van der Vaart to fire low into the corner. It was
a magnificent team goal. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gareth-Bale-c14422 provided the pace, Aaron Lennon played in the perfect pass and Van der Vaart was precise with his finishing once again.
It was last roll of the dice for Aston Villa as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Peter-Crouch-c29741, meanwhile, replaced two-goal hero Rafael van der Vaart for the visitors with 15 minutes left.
Aston Villa started to throw long balls into the box with more regularity as minutes counted down - but http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gabriel-Agbonlahor-c14288 from range, but Heurelho Gomes got down brilliantly
tipping the swerving 20-yarder around the post.
At last home fans had something to cheer about. Villa reduced the deficit to a single goal and it was game on with Eight minutes of normal time remaining. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marc-Albrighton-c23470 might not have meant it but his wicked cross curled over the Spurs defence, past a
flying James Collins, and straight into the corner. Spurs have not kept a clean sheet in the league since the opening day of the season. Now, Villa really had their tails up.
Tottenham had a bit of respite from Villa onslaught as Aaron Lennon was brought down unlawfully by Agbonlahor, Bale fancied his chances from the resulted free-kick 25 yards out. He was so close to sealing the win for Spurs as his effort grazed the post and
away.
In the end, it was a cracking win for Tottenham, one earned despite playing for more than an hour with 10 men. They are up to fifth on the table and are now just a point behind their London rivals http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786, how play Arsenal on Monday night. The Spurs players
celebrated wildly at Villa Park - they truly enjoyed a deserved win.
Final Score: Aston Villa 1 Tottenham Hotspur 2
