Football Update: http://www.senore.com/Cricket/France-c2899 new coach suspends France World Cup squad
As a result dismal performance by French team in World Cup 2010, Les Blues’ new coach, Laurent Blanc has suspended the whole 2010 World Cup squad. Blanc punished them by dropping each of the 23 players for a friendly against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Norway-c2974 which is scheduled next month.
Blanc made the decision after consultation with French Football Federation (FFF). He also met his predecessor, the infamous Raymond Domenech in Paris before making this decision. France was marked by number of controversies including expulsion of Nicolas Anelka after his spat with Domenech.
France World Cup campaign hit rock bottom when French Captain Patrice Evra’s argument with fitness coach Robert Duverne resulted in team revolt. Players walked off and boarded the team bus to return their five star luxury resort. Walkout was reaction of sending off of Anelka back to France after he refused to apologize to Coach Raymond Domenech. Anelka and Domenech row started when Domenech substituted Anelka after Chelsea’s forward abused the 57 year old Domenech at half-time in the dressing room session.
The reason Anelka exploded was due to the criticism by the coach for straying out of his position during the goalless first half match against Mexico. After their spat was leaked to media, French Football Federation took immediate action as they excluded Nicolas Anelka from the World Cup squad, after he refused to apologize to Domenech. In a statement released later to the press, French players without any exception declared their opposition to the decision taken by FFF (French Football Federation) to send Nicolas Anelka back home.
Les Blues returned home in embarrassment after failing to win a single group game in World Cup. Additionally, French football was further embarrassed by Domenech’s actions when he refused to shake hands with South African’s coach Carlos Alberto Parriera following the final defeat to hosts. Blanc will be releasing the names of the players for the Norway game on August 5. Talking to reporters, former Manchester United defender clearly expressed his willingness to take actions against those, who ruined French World Cup campaign.
He said, “I can’t act as if nothing happened in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757. I followed events with great sadness. I was disappointed by the sporting performance but I was above all outraged by certain behaviour. I will take stock of these elements in my analyses and thoughts.”
French football endured a doleful year, which started from Thierry Henry’s controversial goal which allowed France to participate in World Cup at the cost of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ireland-c751 and ending with series of controversies. Ireland media celebrated exit of France from World Cup. “Justice Poitique” was the headline of Irish Examiner and another newspaper had “Final act for Les Miserables” on its front page. They all referred to inglorious exit of French football team from 2010 World Cup. Additionally, French team were hit by a s*x scandal in which star players in form of Frank Ribery and Karim Benzema were involved. They are now under investigation on charges of having s*x with an under-age prostitute.
On the other hand, French Football will now be managed by new chief Fernand Duchaussoy. He will succeed Jean-Pierre Escallettes, who resigned after French exit from World Cup. Duchaussoy has been elected President of FFF on ad-hoc basis and will be responsible for restoring country’s pride in international arena. 67-year-old was earlier head of amateur football league. Talking to reporters, Duchaussoy said, “I am bitter at succeeding my friend Jean-Pierre in one of the blackest periods of French football, during sporting and moral crises.”
FFF under new president will have a mammoth task of rebuilding Les Blues. Not only this, but FFF will also have to instil sense of discipline and responsibility in new side. French football has seen many ups and downs. Once there were characterised as disciplined and professional side, however now they have lost the national purpose of playing football. Time will tell whether Laurent Blanc will replicate his success as a player, when he takes Les Blues on the field.
