Football Update: Goals Galore For Real Madrid.
Last night, Real Madrid was playing against Deportivo La Coruna at Bernebeu. The game ended with Real Madrid scoring six against their opponents, who had little answers to Madrid onslaught.
Real Madrid was coming under immense criticism ever since Mourinho joined the team. The Madrid’s new coach was not known for attacking football, which led many to question his ability to take a club like Madrid towards glory. In the beginning, it was tough
for the Portuguese coach, who was unable to bring out the best in his players. No matter what he did, the goals did not come. In the opening seven matches of Madrid, Mourinho could only manage nine goals from his attackers, which is not even average from Madrid’s
standards.
However, last night things did turn around, as Real Madrid found their goal scoring spree, putting six behind a sloppy Deportivo. Cristiano Ronaldo, Madrid’s best player, scored twice, while two of the new signings, including Angel Di Maria and Mesut Ozil,
also found the net. Gonzalo Higuain scored as well, while Ze Castro scored an own goal to complete the tally. Unfortunately, Mourinho could not keep a clean sheet as Juan Rodriguez scored a goal for the visitors in the 78th minute.
Real Madrid’s coach, Jose Mourinho, did not take any chances against a side like Deportivo. He started the match with his best playing options, with Cristiano Ronaldo, Gonzalo Higuain, Mesut Ozil and Angel Di Maria all making the starting XI. It was quite
clear from the selection that Mourinho is looking for a complete attacking football and he was rewarded in the end by his players.
It was a total domination from the beginning till the end, for Real Madrid. They enjoyed maximum possession, around 60%, throughout the match. Also, many chances were created throughout the match, which was a great improvement from Madrid’s last performances.
The European giants got the upper hand in the starting minutes, as Cristiano Ronaldo scored from a brilliant header in only fourth minute. After that, the visitors went on back foot, defending for the most part of the match.
It was a poor show by Deportivo’s defenders, who did little to challenge or close down Madrid’s attackers. The second goal was scored by Mesut Ozil, who found no players closing him down, as he took his shot into the goal. The third goal came in 34th
minute, when Angel Di Maria scored from a blistering header after a clinical attacking move. The first half ended with home side winning by 3-0. There were other chances created as well, but Cristiano Ronaldo and Sami Khedira were unable to increase their
team’s lead.
Deportivo barely had any chances in the first half, but they did start the second half on a promising note. At this moment, Iker Casillas played his role to defend Madrid’s goal and keep their opponents at bay. Soon, Gonzalo Higuain scored another goal,
after a good attacking move by Madrid. After this goal, Deportivo awarded the home side another goal, as Ze Castro put the ball in his own goal. Madrid had plenty of chances, but they came short of scoring on a number of occasions.
Deportivo did pull one goal back, as Juan Rodriguez put one past Iker Casillas, after a sloppy covering by Madrid’s defenders. However, in the last minutes, Madrid scored once again after a good individual effort by Crisitano Ronaldo, for his second goal
of the night.
The result was great for Madrid, especially because Barcelona got a surprising draw against Mallorca. Madrid remains unbeaten for this season, which is a great performance by Mourinho. There is not a big gap from the top of the table, and with a series of
good results, Mourinho would soon overcome the difference. At the moment, Madrid really looks a dangerous side ready to reclaim the title in Spanish Primera Division.
