Football Update: Harry Redknapp warns clubs over Luka Modric.
Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has announced that midfielder Luka Modric is not for sale at any price.
The Spurs manager is adamant in keeping the 25 year old midfielder at White Hart Lane, who has been strongly linked to a move to Premier League Champions Chelsea. Since his arrival at the club in summer 2008, Modric has become an important part of Spurs’
success. Spurs finished 4th in the premier league last season and have already booked a place into the last sixteen of the UEFA Champions league.
The 25 year old, who joined Tottenham from Dynamo Zagreb, signed a six year contract with the club last May, amid speculations linking him towards a move to Manchester United. However, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 is now after the midfielder, despite Blues manager Carlo Ancelotti
claiming he’s not interested in buying him in January.
"He (Modric) is such a fantastic player if we start selling such a player like that then we might as well all go home. He is a different class and is not going anywhere. Not a chance," claimed Harry Redknapp.
The manager explained the importance of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857 to the overall success of Spurs and stated that players like Modric would have to be retained to make Spurs a top club.
"He (Ancelotti) might have his eye on him but he is not going to get him for sure. He is a pleasure to work with. He is a fantastic player. We are building a team here, not dismantling one," explained the 63 year old Englishman.
One player who would be allowed the North London club would be striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robbie-Keane-c31215. The Ireland International has admitted his frustrations of limited first team opportunities at the club and would want to move to a club who promise first team football.
The manager explained that with the arrival of Rafael Van Der Vaart along with the form of Jermaine Defoe and Crouch, Keane’s chance to play for Spurs have been depleted. However, the manager confirmed he didn’t have any offers for the 30 year old yet but
would be allowed to go to any club who wants him.
