Football Update: Jose Mourinho Not Taking Up http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 Anytime Soon
Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho said on Sunday that he was currently ruling out the opportunity to become the head coach for the national team. Mourinho was denied permission by Real Madrid to take charge of Portugal and the Special One was greatly disappointed.
Carlo Queiroz was sacked and replaced with Paulo Bento but there did not seem to be contentment with his appointment and thus Mourinho was approached with an offer for the job.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan coach revealed how he would have loved to take up the coaching job for his country. He described the inability to take up the second position as the “greatest frustration of 2010”. He said,
“I believe that I will never coach a national team because it's a question of mentality, of personality. I am a coach who works every day, is ready to play three times a week if necessary. But at that moment, I was motivated to do it.”
Mourinho went on to speak about the players of the national team, he mentioned http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristiano-Ronaldo-c9629 in particular. The former Manchester United star now plays under him for Real Madrid and Mourinho was very impressed with him, calling him “extraordinary”. He
said, “He is fantastic, an extraordinary man. He is physically stronger than he has ever been. I believe that he is in the right condition to have his best season.”
Mourinho arrived at Madrid after winning a treble with Inter Milan, he is known for winning in his first season with any club. He had a fantastic season at Chelsea, winning back to back Premier League titles. However, the only trophy he was unable to get
his hands on was the Champions League cup, which is one of the main reasons for his departure from Stamford Bridge. He more than made up for it when he took over Inter Milan, winning the European Cup, League and the Coppa Italia.
He is currently feeling the pressure at Madrid, trailing behind rivals Barcelona in the league by two points. He said while speaking on the issue,
“In all great institutions, the pressure is always huge. Ideally, I will stay until the end of my contract. But I know, and we all know, that I can't stay one, two or three years without winning a trophy. I have always known the rules of the game.”
