Football Update: Jose Mourinho Talks about FIFA Ballon d’Or
Jose Mourinho, the manager of Real Madrid, has said that he should win the FIFA Ballon d’Or trophy for the best manager of the year. The honour would be given on 10th of January by FIFA and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 Football magazine.
Other managers who have been nominated alongside Mourinho are Vicente Del Bosque and Pep Guardiola. At this moment, Del Bosque has an upper hand for the award because of his efforts to win the first FIFA World Cup for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011. It was a big achievement for
the Spanish team and Del Bosque, who played a major role in establishing the unity in his team. Pep Guardiola, on the other hand, is the least probable person to win the award.
Jose Mourinho also had a lot of achievements in this year. With http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan, Mourinho won the Serie A title, Coppa Italia and the Champions League title. This is the maximum that Mourinho could do in the year and he really deserved to be honoured for his
achievements. Therefore, Mourinho has said that the award should be given based on the performances of the whole year. Del Bosque only had the World Cup to prove his worth and despite being successful, he is not good enough to compare with the success of Jose
Mourinho.
After winning an unprecedented and incredible treble with Inter, Mourinho moved on to Real Madrid. With the Spanish giants, the success continued except for the one match played against Barcelona. Mourinho spelled out his achievements during the year in
which he coached his teams in 57 matches over the span of 11 months. Therefore, the implication was that Del Bosque’s one month’s work in World Cup did not have the same influence as Mourinho’s success.
Using the same logic, Mourinho also spoke about the controversial disregard for Wesley Sneijder’s achievements while naming the last three finalists. Sneijder won the treble with Mourinho’s Inter Milan and then he went on to help his national side to an
incredible runners-up position in the World Cup. However, his name was not included as two of the Spanish players, Andres Iniesta and Xavi, were named alongside the Argentine sensation http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296.
Mourinho pointed out the discrepancy that Iniesta did not play for the first five months of the year. He came back for the World Cup and played six matches for his team, scoring a goal in the final. The Real Madrid manager said that anything could be expected
from a panel that shortlisted Iniesta. It was a concealed statement by Mourinho suggesting that he might not win the award despite being the best.
FIFA Ballon d’Or is, without a doubt, an award for the best performers of the year. Therefore, the players who remain consistent throughout must be given an edge over others. A couple of good performances do not have a big effect on the outcome, as suggested
by Mourinho. However, the manager has a biased approach in making his statement, because he is neglecting the role played by Iniesta in the current season of Barcelona. The player is definitely one of the most influential players for Catalans and the Spanish
national side, and he deserves to be credited for his brilliance.
Also, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/South-Africa-c757, and Del Bosque was successful in lifting that trophy. However, his influence was almost as significant as the
influence of Mourinho in Inter Milan. The World Cup comes once in four years and it is as big an achievement as winning domestic and European competitions.
There is no doubt that Mourinho is quite the favourite to win the Ballon d’Or, but it does not mean that Del Bosque does not deserve it. This is going to be a close battle between both the managers and it would not come as a surprise if either of them is
declared the winner in Zurich.
