Football Update: La Liga News- Cristiano Ronaldo Demolishes Racing Santander
Madrid had their consecutive 6-1 win at Santiago Bernebeu, as they were undeterred by a weak Racing Santander side. Cristiano Ronaldo scored an amazing four goals in the process. With this victory, Real Madrid has already scored 16 goals in their last three
league matches.
The two other scorers were Gonzalo Higuain and Mesut Ozil. Madrid regained the top spot in Spanish La Liga table, after they were briefly replaced by the rivals Barcelona, after their victory over Real Zaragoza. The only positive moment for Racing Santander
was a second half goal scored by Markus Rosenberg.
This result was a great one for Jose Mourinho, who has won nine of the eleven fixtures for Madrid. Also, the Portuguese tactician has overcome the criticism that came his way, as his team is scoring a lot of goals as well.
Real Madrid went on attacking from the very first minute of the match. First goal came in the tenth minute, involving Madrid’s top scorer from last year, Gonzalo Higuain. The goal involved the young Argentinean, Angel Di Maria, who played a clinical pass
to his fellow Argentinean striker. Higuain had plenty of time in the opposition’s penalty area, as he took a touch before firing the ball through the legs of the goal-keeper, Antonio Tono.
The second goal came five minutes later from a similar kind of position. This time, it was Higuain, who played a low cross into the box from a tight angle. Cristiano Ronaldo rushed towards the ball which required a little touch just to divert it into the
goal. The Portuguese maestro made no mistake to give his team a 2-0 lead.
Angel Di Maria has shown a lot of improvement in his game ever since he joined Madrid in the summer. He provided the fans with delightful pieces of skills, but Racing managed to escape every time. However, the third goal came in the 27th minute,
again from Ronaldo. The most expensive player in the world was clearly offside, as he received a cross from Mesut Ozil. However, Racing was unlucky as the flag stayed down as Ronaldo netted the ball home for his second of the evening.
The first half ended with Madrid leading by three goals, but they had more opportunities to increase their lead. During this course towards the end of first half, Higuain tested Tono on a couple of occasions but he failed to find his second goal.
Madrid did not sit back as they kept on attacking from the start of second half. The fourth goal came within two minutes of the second half, as Cristiano Ronaldo scored his hat-trick. It was Angel Di Maria, once again, who broke into the right side of the
box, before playing the ball back into the area. Although, Ronaldo was a little further from the cross, but he managed to get the ball and fire it into the goal.
In the 55th minute, the Portuguese world class player scored his fourth of the evening from the penalty spot. Once again, Di Maria was threatening the opposition in their area, drawing a foul out of Domingo Cisma.
The sixth goal came in the 63rd minute, and this time Ozil was the scorer. The young German, who is supposed to be Zidane’s replacement, got a pass from Xabi Alonso, and after beating a defender, he put the ball into the goal for Madrid’s sixth
of the match. At this point, Mourinho got relaxed as he made three substitutions in quick succession, taking Ozil, Higuain and Marcelo off the pitch.
There was yet another goal, but this time Madrid was on the receiving end. In the 73rd minute, Papa Kouly Diop tried his luck from 30 yards, but the resulting kick hit the head of Rosenberg and went straight into goal. Nevertheless, Real Madrid
won in style, as they did not rest for a single moment in the match. Right now, Madrid is playing the best football in the whole of Europe, which would ensure them some trophies by the end of this season.
