Football Update: La Liga News- Ronaldo and Higuain take Real Madrid to the top, as Barcelona defeat Valencia
Real Madrid team and fans have been deprived of titles despite massive spending spree in the last two seasons, which saw them splashing more than three hundred million pounds astonishingly in the period of recession.
Such has been their thirst for titles that they captured the signature of Cristiano Ronaldo for more than eighty million pounds, which made him the world’s most expensive player in history of football. The other big names to follow the Portuguese star were
Brazilian KaKa, Xabi Alonso and Frenchman Karim Benzema.
However, the big names brought in goals but in the end, they fell short to Barca who eventually claimed the Spanish league. The runner up place was no good for Real who then turned on to the best coach in the world, Jose Mourinho who lead Inter Milan to
unprecedented treble.
Former Inter manager’s arrival meant that Real were forced to change their mentality of signing a big name player. Jose instantly stepped his authority in by keeping media away from early practice sessions of the season. He was very smart in the transfer
market by capturing flying Argentine winger Angel Di Maria from Benfica, Ricardo Carvalho from Chelsea and outstanding German duo of Mesut Ozil and Sami Khadera.
At the beginning, Mourinho was frustrated by the demands of Madrid supporters. Now he has silenced his critics as Real sits comfortably at the top of the league. Cristiano Ronaldo and Gonzalo Higuain returned to old form which saw them scoring more than
sixty goals between them last season.
Malaga felt the force of actual Real Madrid who have now started to put up impressive performances in last few games to show their intent to become the number one club in Spain and in the world this season. Ronaldo and Higuain scored two goals each to thump
Malaga four goals to one. The Madrid victory was inspired by the brilliance of Ronaldo who was responsible for all the goals in the win.
He assisted Higuain twice for his goals, first from a cross and then after some neat footwork tearing the Malaga defence to send a through ball to the Argentine striker. He then combined with German starlet Mesut Ozil to score his first and Madrid’s third
on the night. Few minutes later, Ronaldo was brought down in the box and he kept his composure to slot home the penalty kick. Malaga’s only goal was scored by Kris Stadsgaard's which was just a mere consolation as they were totally outclassed by Real.
On Saturday, Barcelona edged past Valencia two goals to one to stop their high flying start to the campaign. Despite the departure of star players, David Villa and David Silva to Barcelona and Manchester City respectively, Valencia have not been affected
as they were the league leaders before Real Madrid toppled them.
The game was a first chance for David Villa to play against his old club. Valencia started the game attackingly and were rewarded shortly for their efforts when Pablo Hernandez game them an early lead with in ten minutes at Camp Nou. The surprised start
shocked the home side who played the first forty five minutes on the back foot.
Second half was a different story for both sides as Barcelona levelled the game thanks to Andres Iniesta and then skipper Carlos Puyol sealed the victory for his side. The impressive fight back must have done a world of good to Barcelona who needed a punch
to revive their campaign, as they have been chasing Real Madrid and Valencia. With only a one point difference between them and Real, Barcelona would be hoping to cling onto first spot soon.
