Football Update: La Liga News – Spanish Champions, Barcelona, in debt
Barcelona are being highlighted every day when it comes to football news. The football club is trying to buy the English club, Arsenal’s football sensation and their captain, Cesc Fabregas. The English club is repeatedly signalling Barcelona that they are not interested in making a deal with them and that Fabregas is not up for sale but the Catalan giants want to buy him and strengthen their squad even more.
Besides Fabregas, Barcelona are also trying to get their hands on the Argentinean player Javier Masherano and the German youngster Mesut Ozil, who is only for 15m Euros. The German midfielder impressed all the football clubs in the world by performing really well during his run with Germany in the FIFA World Cup 2010. He was one of the best youngsters playing in the FIFA World Cup 2010, along with his team-mate Thomas Muller, who eventually won the golden boot award and the Spanish player Sergio Busquets, who almost completed 80% of the passes that he played.
Even though Barcelona are trying to buy new players, so that they can add more years to their amazing “all-winning” reign; they do not have sufficient funds to buy most of them. Barcelona’s ex-president, Joan Laporta, left the club with a debt of 11m Euros, but now the club has only gained on its debts and recently it was also revealed that they haven’t even paid their employees with their monthly incomes. None of the players or the trainers have received their payment, as Barcelona was still waiting for the loan of 150m Euros.
The previous board which was led by Joan Laporta announced in a press conference that the club was in a debt of 11m Euros but now when the new audit was carried out, the new president Sandro Rosell revealed something even less healthy. This news came along with the refusal of Arsenal, who told the Barca management that they are not interested in selling their captain Cesc Fabregas. A 35 million (Euros) bid was turned down by the English club, as they demanded a “higher” price for the Spaniard. However, now, the English club has told Barcelona that they don’t even want to sell the player anymore.
Fabregas still has a five year contract with the English club, Arsenal. Even though he wanted to come to Barcelona because he “wanted to go back home,” he still was never too sure about his move to the Spanish club. Soon after he showed his desire to move to the Catalan club, team-mates, Xavi, Messi, Puyol, Gerrard and even the new signing David Villa, told the press that they would simple love to see Cesc as their team-mate in Barcelona.
Even though Arsenal are not willing to sell the player, it has been revealed recently that Barcelona would not even be able to afford the player. The audit shows that during the season of 2009 and 2010, Barcelona’s costs rose to approximately 400million pounds; however, their income is only 341.7million pounds. This means that their debts are rising from day to day, as the costs of the club surpass the income of the club.
Barcelona recently took a loan of 125 million pounds to solve a few problems that they were facing regarding their debts. They even tried selling a few players and a decision was also taken about the Ukrainian player, Dymtro Chygrynskiy. He was sent to Shakhtar Donetsk to raise the funds of the club and a few more youngsters were sent out on loan, so that the club can gain some liquidity.
Anyhow, Barcelona have already signed one of the best players in the Spanish history, David Villa. Villa is a goal-scoring machine and has always been consistent in all the matches that he played. He performed well in the previous season as well, even though he dislocated a shoulder while playing for Valencia. The player’s cost was around 33.4 million pounds and now he is going to be an addition to the “strong” line-up of Barcelona.
