Football Update: Premier League News- Birmingham City
Birmingham City midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lee-Bowyer-c21864 believes that playing in the Carling Cup final can help him fulfil his greatest fantasy of all time. Despite playing football for the past 16 years, Bowyer has not played at the English National Football Stadium- The
Wembley Stadium. The player had a chance to play for the English National side at home, but played the fixture at Villa Park owing to renovations being done at Wembley at the time.
This lifelong dream may well become a reality this year as Birmingham is currently in the Semi Finals of the Carling Cup. The final would be played in February at Wembley and Bowyer would want nothing more to set foot on the turf of the National stadium.
To reach that, however, Bowyer would have to face his former club and childhood favourite team, West Ham United. The 33 year old that he would have to end West Ham’s dreams in order to pursue his own.
"I was a ball boy there years and years ago but that is as close as I have ever been," he said.
"Hopefully I can play there this time. It will be funny because West Ham are obviously my team. It would be hard but it's the job, it's the job that we do. I can't wait for the two legs and hopefully we can get to Wembley," claimed the 33 year old
midfielder.
Since joining Birmingham in 2009, the player has made over 50 appearances for the midlands club and has scored 6 times. West Ham managed a brilliant 4-0 victory over Manchester United in November to book a place in the last four of the Carling Cup and would
prove a difficult opposition for Birmingham. The side would have to take advantage of their home ground, which has become somewhat of a fortress in recent years. Birmingham managed a year long undefeated streak at St Andrews and would want to keep that form
going to book a place into the final of the Carling Cup.
