Football Update: Premier League news- Blackburn Rovers, Blackpool, Bolton Wanderers
Blackburn Rovers: The Rovers are still unsure of the extent of time Keith Andrews would be out of first team action. The side is still waiting on the confirmation, as Andrews as just made a 20 minute substitute appearance against Blackpool,
following his recovery from a groin injury suffered while training for the pre-season. According to the local media, the midfielder has allegedly suffered a separate injury owing to his rushing back to the first team action and may now have to undergo painful
surgery. The groin injury is one of the most painful one for any footballer but a club spokesman has played down the claims made by the local media. The spokesman stated that nothing can be said before Tuesday as the reports regarding the injury would be released
by Doctor Green. For first team Coach Paul Ince signed Andrews from former club MK Dons for an unknown fee and Andrews has since made over 70 appearances, scoring 5 goals. However, there is good news for Blackburn as David Dunn and Vince Grella are expected
to be back from their respective injuries this week. Blackburn Rovers have made a positive start to the season and remains England’s most physical side.
Blackpool: Blackpool Defender Craig Cathcart has been ruled out of Northern Island’s Euro 2012 qualifying campaign owing to his inability to make come back from his back concern. Owing to this, Cathcart has travelled back to England and
wasn’t with the squad which travelled to Toftir. Cathcart joined Blackpool from Manchester United this summer and is suffering from a chronic back ache, which forced him to sit out of Blackpool historic victory over Liverpool. Cathcart is a product of Manchester
United youth academy and was extremely impressive with Blackpool since his departure from the Red Devils.
Bolton Wanderers: Magpies manager, Chris Hughton has played down any rumours regarding his interest for Bolton forward Johan Elmander. According to reports, Hughton fancied the Swedish striker and was weighing up a possible move for the
29 year old goal scorer. Currently, Elmander is in the last year of his current contract and would be a free agent, come this July. However, Hughton has explained that he has no intensions whatsoever to sign the former Toulouse striker when the transfer window
opens this January.
"There's absolutely nothing in that whatsoever. As always there will be speculation surrounding this club, but I can tell you that one is most definitely a non-starter," claimed Newcastle United manager.
