Football Update: Rafael looking forward to an official hearing
Rafael de Silva will be looking forward to FA improper conduct charge, where the jury will decide either to fine him or put a match ban. Rafael was charged upon his post-red card dismissal reaction during the Sunday match against Tottenham. He was given
time to make an official statement and sources have confirmed that the young Brazilian has accepted the allegations and will be going in for a hearing.
Although, Managers of either side have mutual understanding on the harsh booking of the Brazilian defender, the match official Mike Dean did not hesitate showing him the way out of the field. Sir Alex Ferguson was furious over the referee's decision and
even the Spurs manager thought it was a harsh one. Even the spectators knew Benoit Assou‑Ekotto fell from an unintentional challenge from Rafael.
It was 74th minute of the match and the game was at a crucial stage. Only the teams were allowed to make the news of the match but instead the referee’s decision made it to the “Headlines” of media. Everyone has sympathies with Rafael. He did
what anyone would have done in his situation. Although, his acceptance of the charges could be because he left pitch passing harsh statements, despite that, many believe he should not have charged for that. The referee should not have shown him the card in
the first place. How the “allegation of miss-conduct” would end up for Rafael de Silva and what would be Red Devil’s reaction is the real question.
Rafael de Silva is an important player in the starting line-up. If the decision of the much waited hearing does not result in favour of him, the red devils will appeal. So, the decision makers will definitely take their time on this decision before publicizing
it.
