Football Update: Ruud Van Nistelrooy wants Real Madrid return
Hamburg SV’s star striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753 international joined the Rothosen ranks in the summer of 2009 and scored a respectable 7 goals in 18 appearances. In spite of the forward scoring
5 goals in 14 appearances this season, the legend has not settled down in the area as well as he would have liked. Latest reports indicate that the forward is dreaming of a move back to Real Madrid.
Los Merengues’ star forward, Gonzalo Higuain’s long-term injury has left the capital club desperately short of quality forwards up front. Karim Benzema’s inconsistency and poor form have not made things any easier for the La Liga title hopefuls. Dutch International
has asked Hamburg to let him go back to his former club.
Hamburg has played ordinary football in the first half of the Bundesliga season, and will certainly be looking to play better in the remaining half, but the scenario set for them is not looking good. With the club trailing league leaders by a mammoth 22
points, the German club would not like to give away their star striker in the winter transfer market.
Reports emerging from Glesenkirchen indicate that the Dutchman stormed at the players in the hotel and gave an ultimatum to the team when he heard about German outfit’s unwillingness to let him go. Team spokesman, Joern Wolfe, refused to comment on the incident.
"Van Nistelrooy is in the team hotel. Coach Armin Veh will also put him in the team for the game in Gelsenkirchen, against Schalke 04, tomorrow," he revealed.
With two weeks still remaining in the January transfer market, Real Madrid has many options of getting a good striker. A host of forwards have been linked with a switch to Spanish giants in recent weeks. Only time will tell what Los Merengues directors
have in their mind. Reports suggest that Jose Mourinho is thinking of bringing the striker back to Madrid as a short term fix. Nisterlooy, for his part, strongly believes his prior services for Real Madrid will make him the obvious choice for a place in the
team.
The legendary Dutchman is wildly considered to be one of the best ever goal poachers, and his astonishing record only complement such claims. During his 2006-2010 stint with Real Madrid, Van the man scored a fantastic 64 goals in just 96 appearances.
