Football Update: Sergio Aguero extends contract with Atletico Madrid
Atletico Madrid’s local goal scoring Argentine sensation, Sergio Aguero has gone on to extend his contract with the club and is now going to be a player at Atletico Madrid until 2015. This new contract extension will also see the player bag an enormous 5.8
millions Euros a month.
The striker’s old deal was said to run out in 2012 and recently almost all contract extension talks that the team had with the club seemed to either stall or delay. However, recently both the team and the player seemed to agree on mutual terms and the player
is now set to be a player at the Spanish club for the next five years.
Atletico have also gone ahead and inserted a new buy-out clause in the player’s contract that is set at sixty millions Euros.
Aguero has been on numerous European teams’ radar lately and it was initially believed that the likes of Chelsea were going to make an official move for the player in January. However, after the recent developments it seems like Aguero has tactically turned
down Chelsea without saying a word.
According to most experts, the contract extension might have more to it then meets the eye. It is fairly obvious that Aguero possesses talents that are making him seem like he is a little too big for the Spanish club and it was more than obvious that the
player was bound to make his way out of the team sooner or later. However, with the player contract due to run out in 2012 Atletico had the risk of losing their prized asset for free. However it seems like the team might have struck a deal with the player
that has seen him put pen to paper, but only so that when a team does make a move for the Argentine, they would have to pay a lot more then they would have a week or two ago.
In simple words, Atletico might have just player a tactful master card on the footballing world, in hopes to get maximum income from their star player’s sale.
