Football Update: Spurs deal with Galaxy in doubt with David Beckham being pulled either side
American club, the LA Galaxy has their deal for the former England international captain lasting till 10th of February, which has embarked a doubt in his deal with the North London club Tottenham Hotspur, who are being uncertain that the 35-year-old
will even be a match fit by then.
Beckham is hopeful for his Tottenham shirt after he started a month-long training at the North London club last Monday but the Los Angeles Galaxy want their star man back in their squad right after his training spell.
The Premier League club currently attempts to secure his signing on a three-month loan deal while Beckham has been in the training session.
The Los Angeles Galaxy club’s continuous demand for the mid-fielder’s return to the United States by mid-February has serious concerns to the team manager Harry Redknapp.
"If it was only until February 10 that would only be a month," said Redknapp. "To do that would be a waste of time because, by the time David got fit, it would be a couple of weeks and suddenly you'd be into February."
He added: "I would have liked him to play, if he could have come to the end of the season it would have been great. I didn't know it was only going to be two months at best.”
"When it was mentioned, I thought 'yeah, to the end of the season it would be good'. Then, suddenly two months becomes a month, and only if we got permission.”
"By the time he's fit, just to throw him in for three or four games would be difficult."
Besides this, the Spurs have climbed up to fourth in the table this year and the addition of Bechkam to the squad could bring mixed reactions to the dressing room. The team coach, Les Ferdinand also is having doubts whether Beckham could bring anything worthwhile
to Harry Redknapp’s squad.
The Tottenham striker Robbie Keane is also rumoured to want to leave after finding himself neglected this term. So the Tottenham boss could use this transfer to his long-term pursuit Steven Pienaar, the Everton mid-fielder after Everton accepted a bid for
the South African at the end of the season.
