Football Update: The French player Karim Benzema might arrive in United from Real
The Real Madrid player Karim Benzema, who was unable to impress his international coach, might be coming to the English club Manchester United this summer. Media reports from Marca have confirmed that the French international is planning to make a move out of La Liga, as he is not “working out” in the team full of stars, Real Madrid.
Karim Benzema has been a flop in the Spanish club after his move from his former club, Lyon. Benzema, just like Ricardo Kaka, could not really impress the fans from around the world as much as he did in Lyon. He was transferred to Real Madrid for 35million Euros. He did not even manage to be a part of the French side, along with Sameer Nasri of Arsenal. Nasri, however, had an amazing season in Arsenal but Benzema did not manage to do much for his club and therefore he was not in the French squad in the FIFA World Cup 2010.
On the other hand, the English club, Manchester United, are desperate to buy an attacker this summer as Dimitar Berbatov has not done much to bring “glory” for United. He is a good player; however, Karim Benzima is going to be a perfect replacement for him. Wayne Rooney, who has had a bad world cup, will have to come back in his form to continue at the same pace as he used to be. Benzema, along with Wayne Rooney and the new Manchester United signing, Javier Hernandez, is going to be a perfect combo for the English giants. Sir Alex Ferguson has “supposedly” made a move for the Madrid’s star, before the 2010-2011 campaign.
As Real Madrid is looking forward to buy the Arsenal star Robin Van Persie, Benzema would not be an asset for the Spanish side. For the same reason, Benzema might decide to leave Madrid to find a team where his value is more than just a “substitute on the bench.”
The reporter has claimed that Manchester United are looking forward to buy the striker for 35million Euros, however this is only a rumour for now. Last year, Manchester United were offering Benzima 35million Euros, but this year round things have changed as he has failed to perform in his new club. Is Alex Ferguson willing to pay for the risk he is about to take? Well, it’s all a rumour for now, so no one can say anything just yet.
His s*x scandal along with Frank Ribery from France’s left wing has relayed by many as the reason behind his exclusion from the team. However, if that wasn’t enough, his recent performance for Real Madrid has been quite dismissive. While his lustrous career at Lyon with 43 goals in 112 appearances, he has barely played in the Real Madrid squad since his signing in 2009.
In Lyon, one of the top French clubs, he was the rising star and stated by many as the next man to replace their previous legend Zinedine Zidane. The 6 feet tall 22 year old ace has played pivotal roles in the teams he has played with. His style of play is very similar to Zidane and for France he has scored 8 goals in 27 matches.
Some say it was for his best that he was excluded along with veteran Patrick Vieira. The French team faced an extremely disappointing in the World Cup with their ugly swansong coming against South Africa. They came to a deficit of two goals and though they scored a goal in the end it was too little and too late.
If their early demise from South Africa wasn’t enough for the French mutiny, the team has demoted the fame of many players. Legends like Thierry Henry, Diaby, Nicholas Anelka, William Gallas, Florent Malouda and Captain Patrice Evra came back home to the disrespect of their fans and an ongoing inquiry about their poor performance.
Though FIFA is intervening in the process, it is admitted by many experts that it was best for the player to stay out of this black hole of shame and rejuvenate for the next time.
