Football Update: UEFA Europa League Preview- Manchester City vs Juventus
Manchester City are all but set to take on Juventus, with the Italian side scheduled to travel to the Eastland’s to take on City in the teams Europa League clash.
One player who is well aware of the potential and the importance of the match, is Juventus legend and veteran striker, Alessandro Del Piero. The forward was reported to have said:
"Manchester City are in excellent shape and it will be very hard for us. It always is when you are in England”.
"They have invested heavily and one of the reasons they can be successful is that they have a great squad of players.''
Del Piero is aware of the fact, that if Juventus manage to beat City at home, it could be a major force that could see the team’s season get right back on track.
However, the Juventus manager will also have to take into consideration the fact that his side will be playing the current reigning Italian Champions on Sunday. The manager however, upon being asked about that game against Inter Milan, went ahead to state
that, he was currently more focused on the task at hand and the future could wait for its turn.
As the season has progressed, City have managed to become the one team that everyone is fearing to go up against. One player on the City team, who is looking rather keen to get on with the match, is Patrick Vieira. The defensive midfielder also went on to
admit the importance of the match and was reported to have said, "Every competition is really important because we all want to play. As City have not won a trophy for years, lifting one would be good for the club.''
He then went on to admit how, despite beating the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea, City were a long way from being the best team in the world, he mentioned how the team should continue to put in the same level of performances week in and week out.
He said, "We have beaten Liverpool and Chelsea who are seen to be part of the big four. That just shows how strong we are. There is still a long way to go but we believe in ourselves.”
"We know how good we are. Now we have to win games week in, week out. We have to show it on the pitch.''
On their night, City can beat the best teams in the world, which is exactly what they did this past weekend when they, went on to defeat Chelsea at home. However if City aren't having the best of nights, they tend to be one of the worst teams around. Experts
have for this very reason, found it impossible to predict what the outcome for tonight’s match, could be.
