Football: Zlatan Ibrahimovic to play for Sweeden
The Barcelona star, Zlatan Ibrahimovic gave an interview after his team was knocked out from the FIFA World Cup 2010's qualifying stages. He told the press that he wanted to retire from his international career and did not want to play for his country anymore.
Ibrahimovic has been going through bad times, in terms of football. Fans from around the world know how he reached his peak when he played for Juventus along with many superstars that were part of the Italian team back then. He was at the highest point of his career and scored marvellous goals as a centre forward for the Italian side. Later on he got transferred to Inter Milan where he started showing his real worth.
In Inter Milan, Zlatan Ibrahimovic became the most prominent figure of the Italian League. He scored many goals and also became the highest scorer of the Italian league. For some of the Inter fans who might now know, there was a plan designed for the Italian side and it stated that plan "A" for them is defence and plan "B" for the team is Zlatan Ibrahimovic. That means that if they are losing, or even if they want to win a match; all they need to do is to get the ball at Ibra's feet and he would do what he did best, and that was, "Scoring Goals".
Later on, Inter Milan contacted Spanish club Barcelona for a deal that was approximately worth 50 million pounds. The deal was to be between the Barcelona star, Samuel Eto'o, and the Inter Milan star, Ibrahimovic. They were to switch each other along with a good amount of money that Barcelona payed for the striker. Most of the Barcelona fans were not happy over the fact that Eto'o is leaving their club but they were definitely delighted that the world's most expensive striker was going to play for their side. Yes, it is very true that Ibrahimovic, back then, was the highest paid player in football.
Soon, Ibra came to Barcelona and his career took a u-turn. He could not perform at his best but did manage to impress a few football fans with his amazing skills, as he is the tallest player in the Barcelona squad. His combination along with Messi, Xavi and Iniesta looked to be deadly at first but then suddenly he lost his form. He did not manage to score many goals eventually when the season was coming to an end and when Barcelona needed most of the wins. However, his goal against Real Madrid was of key value because Real Madrid was the only team that could give Barcelona a tough time in the season. He was substituted in the second half of the match and he scored an amazing goal to win it for his team, as the match ended 1-0 for Barcelona.
For now, he is rumoured to be leaving Barcelona, however the President of the club denies anything of that sort. He says that the coach Pep Guardiola will make full use of the man. Ibra thinks that he won't get enough time on the field as the club has signed the very much in-form David Villa. Ibrahimovic is concerned about his future and wants more time on the pitch rather than staying off the pitch.
Recently, Ibra has shown interest in playing for his country, Sweden. Eight months ago he announced to the world that he is going to retire from his international career and will not be playing for Sweden again. Recently, he held a press conference along with the New Sweden Coach, Erik Hamrin. He explained that he was disappointed over the fact that his country did not qualify for the FIFA World Cup 2010 and that is why he wanted to quit that job but the fact is that he still misses playing for his country. Therefore, he is now going to play for Sweden and add on to the 62 appearances that he made and maybe even add on to the 22 goals that he scored.
