Football latest: Steven Reid loaned out to Sheffield United

Sunderland star midfielder Steven Reid has been loaned out to join League one side Sheffield United in what was an emergency loan agreement.
Despite of having fully recovered from a hamstring concern, the 28-year-old was loaned out to Sheffield on an emergency, and would stay there until the end of November. The midfielder was in the form of his career last season but owing to successive injuries
on his legs, the player couldn’t keep that red hot form going. The player made a brief return this season and was used as a substitute against Premier league heavyweights Arsenal and Man United.
Sunderland manager Steve Bruce wishes the player best of luck for the month and expects him to be back more fit and focus. Speaking of focus, Bruce has claimed that he would love to win his first Tyne-Wear Derby today, following his great history with Newcastle
both as a manager and player. Bruce has been a supporter of the club since his childhood but would want to pull one over them in order to signify his professionalism towards his boyhood club.
As a player, Bruce was part of the Manchester United side which managed 1-0 victory at St James Park in 1996. Newcastle United were tough title competitors then under Kevin Keegan and the win against the Magpies guaranteed United’s 3rd Premier league
crown. Later on, as the manager of Birmingham City, Bruce led his side to a famous 5-1 victory over the Magpies in an FA Cup third Round match and was delighted to have managed such a feat. The match took place in January 2007 and Bruce still holds that day
to be one of the special one in his career.
"The biggest one I can remember is '96 when they were trying to win the league and the wheels came off a little bit. We had to go up there with Manchester United and we beat them 1-0. Eric Cantona scored. We were a bit fortunate on the night, I have to tell
you, but it was a great atmosphere, a great noise and after that win, we knew we would catch them. They were stuttering. I remember going there with Birmingham and beating them five in the FA Cup as well - that wasn't too bad either," stated the Sunderland
boss.
Sunderland would want to keep their good form in the premier league going, especially after managing good results against Arsenal and Manchester United. Having faced tough sides already, Bruce would want to win most of the fixtures against lesser sides and
finish in the top 7 in order to meet his pre-premier league aims.
