Football news: Danny Murphy holds managers responsible for hostile tackles
The 33-year-old English footballer Danny Murphy has advised the managers of the football teams to take account for the players for their ridiculous tackles during a match. Sometimes tackles to stop a player from further possession in a match can create a
lot of problems and Murphy seems a little upset with the fact.
The Fulham captain is of the view that football team managers are the ones who motivate and make the mind of their players to act before the match. In a very recent interview, Murphy expressed his thoughts and views very bluntly and told the media that tackling
during a match sometimes is helpful, but it is the job of the coach to prepare and teach the players how to act and react during a match.
It is to be remembered that last month Bobby Zamora of the Fulham football team endured a fractured leg in a challenge with Karl Henry of Wolves. Karl Henry was fined last Saturday for the same act of tackling on Jordi Gomez of Wigan.
Murphy seems still upset and angry about the incident, which resulted in a fractured leg of his teammate Zamora. According to the Fulham Captain the issue should be taken seriously because the brainless tackles can cause serious injuries.
Very recently Hatem Bin Arfa of Newcastle United football team broke his leg after facing a strong challenge from Nigel De Jong. Now it is reported that Arfa’s chances of playing in the near future are very bleak.
When Murphy was asked about the way to behave during a match, the 33-year-old expressed himself and said that it is the manager’s job as he is the trainer of a team, and he should be blamed when a player misbehaves during a match. However, his views are
met with severe criticism from managers.
According to the boss of Professional Footballers' Association Gordon Taylor, the reckless and aggressive tackles can ruin the career of professional footballers and there should be a code of conduct to restrict the happening. Gordan said that wild attempts
to stop a player are endangering the careers and lives of footballers.
Murphy stressed there should be a code of conduct to act and play properly. He further added that nowadays some players’ tackle and challenge very absurdly, which is an indicator of low quality football. He added that a players breaking each other’s legs
during a match is very ridiculous and nothing can be worse than that.
It is very clear that some strong and fast challenges and tackles can dangerously hurt a player and can ruin his career. Murphy is of the view that there should be a punishment for a player who performs such kind of aggressive act. Murphy said that there
should be some rules to prevent such incidents, and the players who are doing it repeatedly should be taken into account.
Phil Neville the captain of the Everton football team expressed his ideas about the matter saying that tackling was a serious issue and it was much tougher in the time of 1990’s. He said these days the players are not as aggressive as they were ten to fifteen
years ago. Neville said that at some extent tackling is useful to defend, and it is a part of the football game. He said that however, there should be a law to restrict players from doing it intentionally, as it can cause serious injuries.
Some challenges are no doubt endangering the careers of many players, and there should be a policy to set a proper way to act and play in a match. A player should act friendly and peacefully during a match and the manager of the team should prepare the players
to display sportsmanship.
