Football news - Emmanuel Adebayor “double minded”
The chaos at Manchester City has left many players thinking about their future. The players who were considered vital last year, or a year before that, are feeling unwanted at Eastland. The chaos has been created by Roberto Mancini, who has spent lavishly in transfer market to increase the strength of his squad. What he is left with is a team full of quality players, all fit and ready to play for their team. But, Mancini cannot field more than eleven players at a time, which has resulted in a feeling of alienation by many players.
First, Stephen Ireland decided to leave City, as James Milner joined the club. In the first match against Tottenham Hotspurs, Mancini decided to go with five players in the midfield. However, Ireland did not get his chance despite having impressed during training sessions.
Also, Robinho has been trying to earn his move away from Manchester City for a long time. He is in a worse situation than Ireland, because he did not even make it to the team for match against Tottenham. Therefore, he decided to leave Manchester City, but he is still waiting for other clubs to approach his current team.
Similarly, Emmanuel Adebayor was placed on the benches for the first fixture of new English Premier League season. He did play a little part in the match, but he did not feel good about his position in the current squad. Also, with the signing of Mario Balotelli the situation has aggravated for the Togo striker. To make the situation worse, Mancini started the match with only one striker, as Carlos Tevez had to control the entire front line of City’s attack. Despite having exceptional players in his squad, this move did not go well for Manchester City, as the players are really thinking about their future now.
Therefore, Adebayor talked to the manager, Roberto Mancini, after the match, to discuss his future at Manchester City. According to him, he was reassured by Mancini and the end result of discussion was satisfactory for him. However, Adebayor is still suspicious about his future as he said that managers can change their attitude very easily. Therefore, the African striker is not ruling out any move away from England.
Recently it was reported that Real Madrid’s manager, Jose Mourinho is taking a lot of interest in Emmanuel Adebayor, as he was preparing for a £20M bid for the striker. Previously, Mourinho was interested in rejoining with his old striker, Didier Drogba of Chelsea. However, that bid seemed to have failed, which has resulted in an interest in hiring Adebayor’s services.
On the other hand, Adebayor does not seem interested in a moving to Real Madrid. He still wants to stay at Manchester City, and earn his place in the team. He said that he would be taking it as a challenge to earn a place in City, while he would still be waiting for his chance to play and score goals for his club.
There is one thing for sure, that Adebayor would not be getting a position as he was enjoying during his stay at Arsenal. He was always the first choice of Arsene Wenger, who had great respect for the player. But, in search of better money, as Arsenal always pay less than other clubs, Adebayor decided to leave Arsenal for Manchester City, as fresh dollars had been injected in City by the billionaires of Abu Dhabi. Since then, he has not been able to play at his full potential, as he is often given less chance than other players. Again in Real Madrid, he would be staying on the bench for most of the time, due to which he seems less interested in such a big move.
It seems that Adebayor would stay in City for time being, as it would be easy for him to earn his place here. In Madrid, he would be up against the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Gonzalo Higuain, which seems highly improbable for Adebayor. So, it is better for his future that he stays in England, while trying to prove himself to his manager.
