  1. Ok, Capoeira is hardly even a martial art. It is much more of a dance. Back to your question, I suggest trying both. Sign up for both and see which one you like more, you might even like them both. Football takes a lot of time out of your life so martial arts might get neglected. I am an all-city linebacker and Muay Thai practitioner. I recommend both. Both fun, physical, competitive and they let you release your anger on someone.

  2. I am going to suggest martial arts for the simple reason that you can continue it after school through out your whole life.

With football, unless you are extremely talented and lucky, you'll be finished the day you graduate.

That being said, you may want to choose football for now and once done do martial arts because it will always be available.

I played rugby when in school but once I graduated I haven't really stepped foot on another pitch (yet). I miss it, but I began training in martial arts. I know that this is something I can always practice.

And yes I know there are beer leagues and such people can join, I'm just not including them.

  3. Do football in the fall and martial arts the rest of the year.  One will help with the other.

As to the type - find a good instructor first and don't worry about the style.  A good instructor is more important.

  4. Ask yourself one thing. What do old football players look like verses What do old martial artist look like?

Those who play football have more sport related injuries than martial artist. Martial arts can be done for the rest of your life. Football you will have to stop by the time  you hit your mid forties.

  5. Martial Arts can be a life long quest, Football you can only do for a little while, valuable lessons in each, had I done MA while I was playing I would have done better and less injuries, but live and learn

  6. Football teaches you how to work as a team and it is very physical. It is a great way to get into shape but that is if you aren't afraid to get hit hard.

Martial arts is also a great way to get into shape. It is more personal than football because it is a one on one contact sport. You will become more flexible and agile. Martial arts teaches you self-control and respect.

I have both played football and competed in martial arts tournaments and I like martial arts better. That doesn't mean I won't play football though.

  7. Do both.

Football during the week, and Martial Arts over the weekend.

  8. I lose more students to football every year because of the dedication it takes.  i would do football if you want to learn teamwork.  i would do martial arts because it teaches self defense and that's more important to me.

  9. I think You should sign up in Martial arts, it has soooo many benefits like you get into shape learn how to defend your self and have self control and it has a purpose

It all depends on what you like. There are soooo many martial arts

I do Capoeira which is a Brazilian Martial arts. And what I think you might like since you like to be physical is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu that would be a good one for you

Capoeira is all about dodging and not getting hit its effective when ur not trying to show off.

Capoeira you use your legs a lot you still punch and take down ppl

but Capoeira isnt for everyone I have seen soooooo many ppl that I thought were going to stay forever ppl that have been trainning for 7 years but then leave.

Well what ever martial arts catches your eye that u like go ahead and try it!

  10. football- if you are big or stronger or fast and like team things.

martial arts- if you are independent.

i like football better.  martial arts always seems to be ful of anime geeks

  11. Why not both? I have many students who are in all kinds of sports and each one them have become stronger, better athletes thanks to their training martial arts. I also did both in high school and college but it was because of martial arts that I developed a true winner spirit, not football.

Football is a fun thing. It is great to learn teamwork, to a point. Keep in mind that martial arts teaches you to become yourself and think for yourself. In football you will have to act a certain way and possibly do things that you do not like just to stay part of the "accepted" group if you want to progress.
