Football players and their signature moves
In football some names are always correlated to some signature moves and qualities, like with Beckham it is long passes, his crossers and being a captain. Here is a list of names and attributes that are very interesting:
Long Throws: Rory Delap
Rory Delap is best known for his throws, he is arguably one of the most gifted throwers in modern football. Delap was a Javelin champion in high school and knew how to throw things on target since childhood. He mastered in the art of throwing the ball right on a specific target. His throws range from 30 to 40 meters, and reach speeds up to 60 km/h. He uniquely throws the ball with a huge sum of back spin which makes the ball go to such a distance.
Trivela: Ricardo Quaresma
When there was an ongoing search for a replacement for David Beckham the name that came up was Ricardo Quaresma. Nonetheless, Alex Ferguson chose Beckham’s name, as he was younger and seemed like a candidate who could more easily adapt to English football. Quaresma is frequently compared with Christiano Ronaldo because of his talents, ego and pace. The act of kicking the ball from the outside the boot is known as Trivela and this is the main difference in Ronaldo and Quaresma. This is an exceptionally hard move to master and most people tend to fail at it to a humiliating end.
Spot Kicks: Yasuhito Endo
Endo got a lot of attention for his free kick in the World Cup in his match against Denmark, and his spot kicks are even more amazing. Endo is known as a spot kick and a free kick expert, and he is always a first choice penalty kicker. He is almost the best at it with his combo of techniques, which is to calmly walk to the ball, not to look at the ball but look straight into the goal keeper’s eyes, and then effortlessly passing the ball into the net and making it look like Childs play.
Range Free Kicks: Juninho
Juninho Pernambucano is known as one of the world’s best sharpshooter in football history. It was considered a mystery when he was not awarded the FIFA Footballer of the Year Award. However, there is no denying the fact that he is the best-ranged free kicker of the game. He was also a very influential captain for Lyon when he won 8 domestic titles in a row. The technique that Juninho applies is called "knuckleballing", this is to kick the ball near the valve so that the ball quivers, and then deviates in the air.
Penalty Killer: Hans Jorg-Butt
A lot of fans may argue that Rogerio Ceni or Chilavert are the best for scoring goals, and many would say that Ricardo is the best for goal killing. But if you combine the two together then you get Hans Jorg- Butt, he has scored more than thirty goals from the spot and has saved even more than that.
Dribbling: Ronaldinho
Florentino Perez is harassed with the claim that he picked Beckham over Ronaldinho just because of his looks. This was also later proved to be a major error on Perez’s part as Ronaldinho was pure genius, and an unstoppable machine because of his amazing dribbling skills.
Headers: Miroslav Klose
Miroslav Klose made debatably the best header in the last decade in the World Cup match while playing for Germany. Klose is ranked as the second highest goal scorer in the World Cups with Mueller and after Ronaldo. He clearly showcased his talents in the 2002 World Cup as he headed 5 goals, and won the Silver Boot. Then he won the Golden boot in the 2006 World Cup, and scored an amazing equalizer against Argentina.
Pace: Theo Walcott
Josef Bican mesmerized fans by sprinting a hundred meters in 10.8 seconds but Theo Walcott covered the whole field in eleven seconds. A lot was expected from Walcott, when he scored a hat-trick for the Three Lions but his last two seconds were poor and he did lose his pace in the World Cup squad.
