Question:

Football taking the spotlight from baseball in late August and September????

I mean September is the last month of regular season play... These are the most important games of the season because they are going to decide who goes to the post-season or who's not. I'm not trying to disrespect football or anything but it's the PRESEASON for christ's sake! These games don't even count and that's all that'ss on sportscenter. It makes me sick. When it's preseason baseball you hardly hear anything about it, and even though it's coming to the end of the regular season and there a lot of tight races, preseason football still takes the spotlight. I don't get it. This makes me so angry. Does anyone else feel the same way about it. Please no immature answers. I'm not trying to disrespect football in any way.

  1. More betting on football = more people tuning to watch highlights.

I agree, I wish baseball wouldn't get bumped, but the networks do what they do for ratings, so I guess the people have spoken.

I often wonder why anyone would watch preseason NFL, after the first quarter it's horrific...but I guess other people are entitled to their opinions, even if they are wrong.

  2. I don't even bother watching pre season football games, I'd rather watch a pennant race. When spring training starts you barely hear anything about baseball, but when pre season football comes, you have so much analysis. Pre season games are over hyped and not to mention low TV ratings.

  3. It's a shame that ESPN has what amounts to a monopoly in American sports because ther presentation has deteriorated the last 10-15 years. They've become the home network for New England area teams while ignoring other area of the country.

With the Chisox/Cardinals/Rays overachieving earlier this baseball season all you heard about on ESPN was the Red Sox and Yankees. It's frustrating and it's also why I no longer watch Sportscenter or ESPN News. I like PTI, ATR, and Baseball Tonight but I don't have the patience nor the inclination to watch the mindless boobleheads on their other shows.

Bumping baseball in August to air a preseason MNF game is moronic, and that pretty much sums how ESPN is run now.

  4. baseball in august in 1000000000 times better then football in august.

would you rather watch a pennant race or 3 quarters of guys you have never heard of?  sure when the regular season starts i wont miss a game.

  5. I actually asked a question like this a few days ago. I'm not a fan of it at all.

Pennant race baseball > preseason football.

I, too, am not taking anything away from football. But the football games don't matter whereas the baseball games do. So what do they do? Move Monday Night Baseball on ESPN 2 and show Monday Night Football on regular ESPN.

    It's really frustrating.
