Football talk for beginners ?

Im 16 and Im in love with anime .... and all my friends in school never stop talking about football ..

" I sopport Juventus " " man , manchester United is the best "

ITS SO ANNOYING .. I know nothing about football ... is there a way I can learn about football quickly ( like a website or something ) .. so when they start talking about football .. I can join the convo. =D

Choose a team to support and start by learning about them and their players you will soon find you catch the bug and become a football fan yourself.

I think every football fan starts out exactly like you are now, Its just some of us start a bit younger but its the same concept.

If i can give you some advice try not to jump on the bandwagon and support liverpool or man utd, its too easy to just support the best team and every football fan in the country and on this forum will soon tell you that we all dislike liverpool and man utd fans and have no respect for them because they started out like you are now and just decided to take the easy option and support a team in the silverware and winning things.

This is a diamond of advice and although you probably dont see it now you will in time know what i am talking about.

Maybe go for a local club who are big, People who support teams in the lower divisions outside the premiership are real gritty football fans and are diehard true footie troopers.

My advice would be to watch as much football as possible. Listen to what the sports announcers are saying about the players and their respective positions. that way you'll eventually learn the strategy of the game as well as what everyone is arguing about. Also check out Youtube and type in football. You mentioned Manchester United which I believe is an English Rugby team. American football is totally different. NFL is American football Rugby is something different. Hope that helps!

No offense to the person who answered first, but football is not rugby, it is soccer, just to clarify to anyone else reading. ^_^

But like he siad, start watching some of it. Go to yourube and type in soccer/football and maybe a team name and you'll eventually start learning the game. Some rules are complicated and even having someone to describe them to you can be confusing (eg: offsides).

Also, wikipedia will have a lot of info. Sometimes to much.

It's not always exciting to watch at first. You'll have to learn to appreciate how hard it is to play and do what the pro's make look so easy. Once you do, you will love it.

Quick advice my friend... watch GOAL TV 24/7 especially at night when they show the scores and analysis of the games.....@ my be boring at first but once u get the hang of it u will like it....
