Football transfers - Ibrahimovic to move back to Italy
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is a great player but his days at Barcelona are numbered. Right now, he remains unsettled at Camp Nou due to some changes made by Pep Guardiola, and he would like to take a release from the club.
Ibrahimovic’s problems at Barcelona started with a few conflicts with his manager, Pep Guardiola. Ever since David Villa was signed this year, Ibrahimovic place in the team has shadowed. Therefore, he tried to speak with his manager, about his future at the club; however, he was unable to make a contact in last six months, as claimed by Ibrahimovic himself. Due to the uncertainty about his future, it is highly likely that the Swede would make a move away from Camp Nou within the remaining days of transfer market.
Ibrahimovic’s agent has also declared that the player is contemplating a move away from Camp Nou. He said that Ibrahimovic does not like the new role associated with him, i.e. sitting on the bench. Therefore, he is looking for other options but he is likely to choose from only three possibilities. Although, many clubs would be interested in signing Ibrahimovic; he is most likely to choose among Real Madrid, Manchester City or AC Milan.
Manchester City is quite interested in signing Ibrahimovic, but they already have a big squad. Although, Ibrahimovic is in contact with Roberto Mancini, his old coach at Inter Milan but this deal does not seem likely. The only possible way for City is to get rid of some of their current players, which would generate cash for Ibrahimovic.
On the other hand, a deal with Real Madrid is also unlikely. Recently, Madrid’s sporting director has told the press that no other signing would be made this summer. Therefore, Ibrahimovic stands no chance, as Barcelona would also be reluctant to sell him to their archrivals. Also, Jose Mourinho, who has coached the Swede in Inter Milan, has advised the player to go back to Italy. He said that Ibrahimovic was happier in Italy and he should immediately go back. Therefore, a deal with AC Milan is more likely, while the club is also taking interest in signing him.
Right now, AC Milan is in direct talks with Barcelona, with an intention to sign the player. The only problem for them is the cash, which they would require to sign the Swedish striker. There was a suggestion of a swap deal with AC Milan’s Marco Borriello but the idea has been dropped. The only focus is to generate some cash in order to bring Ibrahimovic back to San Siro; this time in different colours.
During separate interviews with press, Ibrahimovic and some Milan players showed their desire for the expected deal. Ibrahimovic cherished the idea of playing alongside the Brazilian duo of Milan, i.e. Ronaldinho and Alexandre Pato. On the other hand, Ronaldinho also showed his desire to play alongside Ibrahimovic, as he declared him to be among one of the best strikers in football.
Ibrahimovic has without any doubt lost his place in the starting line-up of Barcelona. He came to Camp Nou last year, after a very expensive deal, which also saw Samuel Etto moving in opposite direction. However, he failed to live up to the teams’ expectations, as he came nowhere near Etto’s performances of the past. Therefore, this year Barcelona hired the services of David Villa, who is supposed to be even better than Ibrahimovic.
It is certain now that Ibrahimovic should switch his team this season. He is already 28 years old, and has only a couple of peaks years left. This is not the time to be sitting around on the benches, as he needs to be playing for some big team. So, if one team does no longer require his services, it would be wise to make him useful for some other club. Milan would be a better option, because he looked a far better player in Serie A than in La Liga.
