Football update, Manchester United could finish this season unbeaten
The young defender of Manchester United, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chris-c9006 Smalling, believes his team could finish unbeaten in Barclays Premier League and could match the incredible feat of Arsenal’s ‘Invincibles’.
However, he insists that the players still have their feet on the ground when it comes to their potential achievement.
Arsenal’s side of 2003-04, also called ‘Invincibles’ was the only team in recent history to go unbeaten in the League for a record 49 matches. Moreover, it is the only club in the Barclays Premier League that has managed to achieve such an incredible accomplishment of being unbeaten in one whole season.
However, Manchester United put an end to Arsenal’s 49-matches unbeaten streak at Old Trafford. Manchester United are yet to be beaten in Barclays Premier League and they are already half way through the season.
The Red Devils are currently leading the Barclays Premier League standings with 34 points to their credit out of 16 games.
Despite being unbeaten in the League, the young defender of Manchester United insists nobody is getting carried away. The towering centre-half said that all players are happy and are not focusing more on achieving the accomplishment of being unbeaten in the League.
Chris Smalling said, "So many teams have lost points already this season that it would be tough to keep it going as Arsenal did. I'm not sure we'll ever see that again. But we are the only ones who can do it this season, so who knows? If we can get through Christmas still unbeaten, it will be a good sign”.
Manchester United’s away form in the Premier League is not that impressive, as they only managed a single victory out of eight away fixtures.
While talking about Manchester United’s overall form this season, Chris Smalling articulated, "We haven't really hit top form, except maybe against Blackburn, so it's time to send out a bit of a message. We take pride in the fact we are unbeaten. In the last 10 or 15 minutes of games we put in that bit extra to make sure the run keeps going. We are getting stronger".
Moreover, Manchester United holding midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Scotland-c756 international is of the belief that there has been an improvement in recent weeks and believes that this will soon translate into a rich vein of form.
Fletcher commented, "We will kick on in the New Year. We will certainly be physically ready for the challenges ahead. The performance of the team and individual performance levels are rising. As a general rule it's important you do your base work early on and then kick on after Christmas".
Manchester United will play their next match against Sunderland on Sunday, at Old Trafford.
