Football update, latest from Aston Villa
Aston Villa manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gerard-c14664 Houllier, has confessed that he may have to let some of his players go from the outfit. Since his appointment as the manager of the Birmingham based club, Houllier has faced difficulty after difficulty but remains steadfast to prove a point at Aston Villa.
The manager has denied reports claiming that he has been asked by the management to reduce the rising wage bill of the club. Houllier claims that the players, who would be asked to leave are perhaps not happy with the club owing to lesser first team opportunity.
Houllier said, "Maybe there are one or two that will leave. Probably those who are not happy not to play on a regular basis, yes. But that is football. But I wasn't asked to bring the wage bill down. Nothing special like that”.
A shock resignation by manager, Martin O Neill, at the start of the season led them to being without a manager for the first month of the season. Villa then appointed Gerard Houllier, who made a Premier League return after eight years and has since enjoyed a mixed spell with the club.
The side is currently 14th in the Premier League and managed an impressive draw against Manchester United without nine of their first team players.
Unsettled former Manchester City midfielder, Stephan Ireland, tops the list of players, who may leave the club permanently at the start of this transfer window. The player has failed to make an impact since his arrival at the club in this summer’s transfer window and remains unhappy.
Houllier has given the player a free hand to decide his own future and has asked him to leave, should he decide to do so. Houllier has taken the club out of a lot of crisis, since Martin O Neill’s departure from the club and has greatly stabilized the situation between the management and the players.
However, new faces need to be added if Villa want to achieve their previous mid table finish and Houllier could bring new players to take the club in the right direction.
