Football update: Premier League news - Part 4
Tottenham Hotspur
Unsettled right back, Alan Hutton expects Spurs to decrease their asking price for him if he is not featuring regularly by December. The Scottish player has fell out of favour with manager Harry Redknapp while Verden Corluka and Younes Kaboul have been picked instead of him for most of last season. His constant lack of first team action led him to a loan spell at Sunderland, where he made 11 appearances. Spurs, however, wanted too much for the player for Black Cats to seal a permanent transfer, bringing the player back to White Hart lane. The North London club look to regain some part of their 9million pound transfer fee for the right back and would not settle for a meager amount.
“It has been tough for me.”
“I was looking at options in the summer but nothing came off. I moved to Spurs for big money and if I leave, the club will be wanting that. But it's tough to get someone to pay that kind of cash when you haven't been playing. It's not a great situation to be in”, claimed the 25 year old full back. The player claimed that for the time being, he just needs to be in the right frame of mind and keep going strong. Hutton claimed that he now has a family and his child now goes to school. So for him to travel around Europe for loan moves would be difficult as it is likely to affect his family life.
West Bromwich Albion
West Bromwich manager, Roberto Di Matteo has revealed that his laid back and calm approach has harmed his side’s performance in the Premier League. The manager has a reputation of being relaxed about most situations but stated that even though he shows a relaxed face, from the inside he very anxious. Di Matteo claimed that West Bromwich underwent a tough start to the league and would now be trying their level best. The manager added that he has always been explaining to the players that the season is of 38 games overall and not just the first few. The overall success in the league is all what matters and the manager aimed to focus on that.
West Ham United
It was a proud moment for George Moncur when he signed his first professional contract with West Ham United. The player is just one step closer to his father’s footsteps, who is a West Ham United legend. His father, John Moncur, was considered to be one of the finest players of his time and now his son, who is just 17, has been rewarded for his ability, focus and talent with a two year contract. Moncur has become a first team regular with Hammer’s U18 squad and is on his way to Alex Dyer’s reserve squad. Moncur is an all action midfielder and has impressed everyone at the West Ham United academy. Although the contract did paste a mega smile on the youngster’s face, yet he does not expect any favours from his dad or the coaches. The player was very pleased and got off to a flying start in the new season. Moncur aimed to carry on improving and aimed for the first team following his contract signing. The 17 year old claimed that he got to know about the contract when first team coach Alex Dyer had a talk with him, urging him to keep working hard and striving forward. The midfielder claimed that he was lucky to have a father who has been through such a stage himself and learns a lot from his father’s advices. “He tells me lots and I've just got to take it all on board and listen to what he says.", claimed the 17 year old youngster.
