Football update: Transfer Episode of Cesc Fabregas- What is better for the Midfielder
The transfer of Cesc Fabregas is the hottest transfer in the market. Unlike many other transfers, Fabregas was bound to return to Catalunya, his hometown. Often clubs sell their talented youngsters to other clubs, so that they develop their skills and have a taste of different styles of football. This is the only reason that Barcelona sold Cesc Fabregas, a wonder kid at that time, to Arsenal. Now, he has developed himself into a world class player, so Barcelona wants him back, while Arsenal would not let go of him easily, as he is the best player in their team.
Keeping in mind these things, Arsenal set a buying price of £35M, while Barcelona failed to meet the demands. Barcelona has already bought David Villa for £40M, and currently lacks the funds to do another big purchase. However, it was initially thought that a swap deal would be arranged, but Manchester City jumped in to get hold of Yaya Toure, a possible swap for Fabregas. Actually, Arsenal’s worth is not too much, as the midfielder has been the best player for his team for the last three to four years.
The real problem for Arsenal is that the midfielder has shown his own intent of joining Barcelona, which unsettles him while playing for Arsenal. Thus, either Arsenal keeps him or not, there is a chance that the midfielder would not prove to be too worthy for them in the next season, or for at least a greater part of the next season.
The whole Arsenal team runs around Cesc Fabregas. He is the real playmaker, and the holding midfielder. Also, quite recently he has proven himself to be a prolific goal-scorer as he is found making frequent forward runs. That is why Arsene Wenger has made him the captain, because he is the only influential player in the team. Wenger has been building his squad for six years now and if Cesc Fabregas leaves right now, the fans could be looking forward to yet another trophy-less season.
On the other hand, Barcelona has a squad that has created history in the Spanish League. They made a record by winning the only treble in the history of Spanish football, in 2008-2009 Season, a feat even Glacticos of Vicente Del Bosque could not achieve. The have world class players playing in every position on the field. They even have some of the biggest players in the football right now, like Lionel Messi, Andreas Iniesta, David Villa and Xavi. Yet, they are showing an intent to buy Cesc Fabregas just to prove a point to the world; i.e. they have achieved so much success using most of the players from their youth academy, unlike their rivals Real Madrid, who have a history of lavish spending on players. Fabregas is one of their own, and if they get hold of him, then there would be eight to nine players in the starting line-up from their youth academy.
But, Cesc Fabregas has a decision to make, and he has to make it quick. The situation is very simple and very clear. He is enjoying a lot of influence at Arsenal, while he gets a lot of playing time, which enable him to display his full potential. Also, the whole game revolves around him, which makes him the key player and gives him liberty to run the game at his own will.
On the contrary, in Barcelona, he might not even get a chance to start every match. There are the likes of Xavi and Iniesta, more experienced and more seasoned players, in the Barcelona’s midfield, therefore, it would be very hard to replace them. While, in the forward line, there is Lionel Messi and David Villa, who would again be the blind first choice of Pep Guardiola, the Barcelona’s coach. Also, Fabregas has not been able to return anything to Arsenal, as he has not been influential in winning anything for the club. This is a debt that he would have to repay to his current club, for which he must stay at Arsenal for one more season. Arsenal is closer than ever to reclaim top spot in English Premier League, and if Fabregas leaves right now, he would have to take the whole blame for the failures of Arsenal in the coming season.
