  1. I think Footballers are over paid. What do they do? kick a ball around its like a Hobby to them!

But I guess with all the supporters support and people coming to watch them play this makes their cash.

  2. I love playing and watching football, but i have to say the ones at the top level are obscenely overpaid, but it's the same in some other sports too.

  3. As much as I love that sport, I do think footballers are over paid. Think about it, all they do is entertain us. when other jobs that are actually really really necessary for us don't pay that much. I mean, we can't live without doctors or engineers, but they still don't get as much money as footballers or basket ball players. I don't think that is fair.

and by the way, this is a really good question, I actually wrote a research paper on this subject.

  4. They should give us some !

  5. i don't think they are over paid at all.

Remember not everyone will become a professional footballer, infact only 1 in 100,000 are successful. Although it might seem they just kick a football around the pitch for 90 minutes, they train and practise off the pitch every day.it's a lot of hard work.

  6. It depends how you look at it really, it boils down to supply and demand, basic economics.

Football fans and people who watch the sport on TV and pay to do so mean that the clubs have huge budgets with which to buy players and pay their wages.

The teams want success (as do the fans) and so they will pay whatever it takes to get the best players.  With the clubs fighting with each other to attract the best players, the players themselves will generally go to whichever team offers the most money.

You can't really blame them, most people would work for whichever company pays them the most or gives them the best conditions etc.

When you consider that a top player can earn around £100k a week (nearly $200k) then it is fairly obscene when you realise that there are people starving to death in the World who could be saved for just a tiny fraction of that money.  But it's economics!

The only way to reduce the players wages is to either put some laws in place to cap wages or tax them highly or for the fans to stop paying the inflated ticket prices etc, but that wont happen as the fans want success and will pay whatever it takes to get it or so it seems.

  7. I don't think they are over paid becoz its tiring to be a footballer. In a match, a footballer could easily have walked/ran/jogged/etc 10 km which is about 6 to 7 miles. And also its difficult to get a regular 1st place. Footballers' career can easily be cut short by injuries. And dont forget the all hard training u have to attend....

The only player who is over paid is Frank Lampard who is now paid 150,000 quid a week after he signed that new contract.
