Have not spun in quite some time and currently own both cross trainers and street running shows- which should I wear to spinning class tonight?

  1. Take a close look at the bike pedals.  The ones I use have a cage on one side and a contraption that seems to be missing a metal triangle a little smaller than the hole in your fingers when making an OK symbol.

The better scenario is the latter.  Go to a bike shop and get a pair of cycling shoes with SPD plates.  I recommend ones that recess the SPD; you can walk halfway normally in those.  I also recommend outlining the SPD plate with a marker.  That way if you want to adjust the plate position, you know where you started.

If it's the former, I recommend cross-training, basketball, or light hiking shoes.  Their uppers are less pliable than running shoes.  That means less pressure on your toes, reducing the chances of your toes going to sleep or losing toenails.

  2. Get some mountain bike shoes. Your local bike shop should be able to fix you up. Bike shoes have a stiff sole that transfers power better.

  3. I'd say the cross shoes should offer more support. I use bike shoes myself with cleats. But if your not into biking that much just use the stiffest soled shoes you have.

  4. I find that cross-trainers feel better on the pedals.
