  1. Dissociation refers to the breaking chemical bonds to produce ions or neutral species. Ionization produces just ions. However, ionization forms ions not just from dissociating species. It can be the loss or gain of an electron, such as in electrolysis.

  2. Dissociation-

Physical Chemistry. a. the reversible resolution or decomposition of a complex substance into simpler constituents caused by variation in physical conditions, as when water gradually decomposes into hydrogen and oxygen under great heat in such a way that when the temperature is lowered the liberated elements recombine. Or

the splitting off of a group of mental processes from the main body of consciousness, as in amnesia or certain forms of hysteria.

    Ionization-

is the physical process of converting an atom or molecule into an ion by adding or removing charged particles such as electrons or other ions.

  3. Dissociation has to do with breaking of a bond whether the products are ions or just neutral particles.  Ionization breaks bonds into charged particles.  Ionization is the process of forming ions.  Also dissociation occurs when a proton is lost from an acid.

  4. Dissociation: The process by which the action of a solvent or a change in physical condition, as in pressure or temperature, causes a molecule to split into simpler groups of atoms, single atoms, or ions.

Ionization: The formation of or separation into ions by heat, electrical discharge, radiation, or chemical reaction
