How do you keep red spiders from swimming in your pool ??

We have some pine trees in the yard but none are close to the pool. We do not have a screen over the pool but not sure that would keep them out if we did.

Any suggestions ??

Thanks ahead of time...

  1. We have an inground pool....and I just use the net to skim if I don't want to swim with the bugs.  Here sometimes we will skim 2-3 times as things fly into the pool during a party, it's no big thing anymore..We get bees, flies, ants, crickets and things I don't know what they are. Seems you will have to kill the spiders before they take a dip in the pool. A nursery should know what you would need to spray the trees.

One night we were swimming and having guests over, and my Sons Friend asked how often we get snakes swimming in the pool. I just said never. He said well you have one now, and we all freaked I grabbed the kids arms to get them out of the pool. Panic hit for a few minutes....all of us in thong sandals and shorts or swim suits...scared the snake would come out and grab one of us...Grabbed several flashlights from the house to find this snake....Well it turned out to be an Albino Garter snake and a baby one at that. Only about 15" long. It swam into the pool filter basket in the commotion. We got it out and released it.  Was exciting to say the least.  It had to have got in there after dark, or at least that is what we all figured. Since we live where we have all kinds of fun things, like tarantulas, scorpions, rattlers, and tons of black widows we always check first....ask questions later.

  2. Hi,

I own an in ground swimming pool.

There is a product you can buy from the swimming pool  Chemicals supply shop that reduces water surface tension to sink floating bugs, insects and spiders.

It also prevents bugs, insects and spiders from taking air bubbles with them well they are in the water. Where I come from (Australia) the product is called "No More Bugs"  and it's made by Lo-Chlor.

The other thing you can do as a back up is to use outdoor spider surface spray. Spray it around the pool once a month.
