Question:

For All Of Us Believers?

Do you think we would still be compelled with the supernatural, ghosts, urban legends, cryptozoology, etc if it was a known fact through out the world that these things were real? Or do you think because it's something that is known and common in the world that we would be less likely to indulge?

What is it that makes you intrigued about the supernatural? Is it the mystery? The excitement?

  1. It is the unknown factor but also it is amazing to think there is a different demension

  2. For the most part it is the the unknown factor. Yet I have believed in the paranormal for a looong time now.

So if it were a known fact, I think  I would still be as interested just more directed in what I do, and I wouldn't be considered eccentric for my beliefs.

  3. For me it's because I'm looking for answers to something that is unexplainable.

  4. we just know so little of what there is to know in the universe. strange things exist. things we don't know about exist. its fun to speculate and to try to explain the weird things we experience

  5. I do tend to think if it were a known fact it might be as interesting, but I'm sure there would still be people who studied it, just like with everything else.

What make intrigued? Honestly, that I can sense (feel, hear) things I can't see or touch (it's not solid, IOW), but KNOW beyond a shadow of a doubt is still nonetheless there...and I'm not even sure have the time just how it is that I know. I just know that I know (not being cocky, just describing the feelings I get).

  6. I don't think the majority of the  believers here would like the supernatural if it was real and studied scientifically.

After all there are very many really amazing things in the real world that are awfully interesting which (as far as I know) they don't find as fascinating as the paranormal.

  7. I have very little interest in Cryptology. However I was raised on ghost stories. My Mother and Grandmother used to tell me local ghost stories as a child. I do think part of my fascination is the unknown.

  8. I think if these things were known to be real they would be theamed out disney style, so if you beleive enjoy it now!

  9. It's the unknown,  and some of us want to know what it is and what causes it.  I would love to know why someone I could see through pulled the covers off me and threw them across the room.  My mother saw this being as well.  I would also like to know how he vanished without moving.  It's basically trying to find out the unknown.

  10. well I agree.

  11. The Australian Aboriginies believed in the Rainbow serpent who made the mountains and valleys. The rainbow serpent travels throught the ridges of mountains. When you make stone tools this is important to know because it guides you in where to hit the stone (on the ridge, not to the flat).

As it turns out, waves propogate through a solid medium most strongly through ridges (those people who live in the Hollywood hills are likely to be eaten by the rainbow serpent).

For some people, the mystical is all around us, and is not just exciting but a useful tool for living life. For some of use science is the same. If we believe them to be real then we would use them more in our life. Ghosts become a way of solving murders, monsters symbolize our own evil hearts and so on.

  12. LOL, I just want to answer so that folks know I didn't have a s*x change :)

You bring up a good point. The unknown itself is a big draw. The mystery of it all is what draws a lot of people in. On the other hand, if any one of the topics you mentioned was finally validated by compelling evidence, you'd see a rush of research going in that direction.
