For BBQ cooking should i use butane or propane.?

butane is around half the price. I have an Outback bbq with a regulator for patio gas (propane) Can I change the regulator and use butane?

  1. I would much rather have it cooked on Charcoal..I used to use gas, but I found that I ran out and forgot to buy more a lot.  Once the gas even started a deck fire, but then my dogs eat the used charcoal...So, have fun with your BBQue party!


  2. If it has the lava rocks, then use propane, if it is a grill use butane.  Butane burns blue and is a hotter flame, but is for direct heating.  It's good for camping stoves and heating pots and pans.  Propane burns with a more yellow flame and radiates its heat better - good for cooking food and spreading the heat across the coals.

  3. If you change the regulator to suit the bottle, then either will work.
