For Dallas Cowboys DC Rob Ryan, Week 11 game against Cleveland Browns is ‘personal’ – NFL News
As Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Rob Ryan prepares his side to face Cleveland Browns in Week 11 game, he wants his players to give tough time to the Browns and defeat them.
The game is personal for Ryan because he had served Browns a few years ago under head coach Eric Mangini.
After a season in which the defence’s performance was relatively better, Browns parted ways with Mangini and eventually Ryan also left the franchise.
According to the details present on Cowboys’ website, Ryan said of his departure from Browns:
“Anytime you pour everything you have into it and apparently management didn’t see it as it was good enough, of course it’s personal.”
Ryan’s departure came in a strange way. When Eric was let go, the Browns did not ask Ryan to stay. They made him no offer and the defensive coordinator made a decision on his own. He said:
“It's not like they asked me to stay. But they should have. But I would have said no.”
Ryan still has good relationship with the Browns and some of their players, but that is not going to prevent him from harbouring hopes of defeating them this Sunday. He said:
“I love some of those players that are still there. I still love some of those guys, but I plan on beating them.”
The best way for Ryan to settle his score is certainly with a win. The victory will not only satisfy Ryan’s ego, but will also boost Cowboys’ playoff chances. They are living dangerously this season and a week ago it was assumed that the season was over
for them.
However, defeats to every team but Cowboys in National Football Conference (NFC) East last week kept them in playoff contention.
Now Cowboys need to win all their games so as to have a strong shot at securing a playoff berth. Ryan’s defence is among the league’s best this season and the Browns are certainly not going to have an easy time against the Cowboys.
The game is crucial for the Cowboys in another way; they have not won two straight games this season and if the defeat the Browns they can start a new winning run.
