For Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo, only victories matter – NFL News
Tony Romo has been playing as Dallas Cowboys’ quarterback since starting his professional National Football League (NFL) career but he has not been able to lead the team to winning any title.
Nominated for the Pro Bowl squad three times (in 2006, 2007 and 2009), Romo has proved to be a real asset to the team.
However, the Pro Bowl selections and his personal records do not matter the most for Romo when he thinks of how many victories he has given his team.
In the regular season, Romo has led the Cowboys to winning 47 games while facing 30 defeats, and in the playoffs, he only has one victory to his credit and has been defeated thrice.
This is the area where Romo is seeking improvement. He needs to get more victories in the postseason so as to take his team closer to the title.
His last season’s performance was the best of his career as he registered impressive records in terms of passing, throwing and accuracy.
He played and started all 16 games of the regular season in which he completed 346 passes of 522 attempts. Romo gained 4,184 passing yards and scored 31 touchdowns. He controlled his passes pretty well and only threw 10 interceptions, receiving the career-best
quarterback rating of 102.5.
But Cowboys did not qualify for the playoffs and it hurts Romo who prefers the team’s victories over his personal record.
According to the details present on the team’s official website, Romo said of this situation:
“Well, it’s not about statistics. It’s about winning. That’s what he story is going to be written when it’s all said and done. It’s going to come down to whether we won or lost. That’s why you practice the way we do. That’s why you’re out there doing the
stuff we’re doing, so that we can put our best foot forward and try to win.”
He added:
“The articles are going to always be about winning and losing and that’s what the fans and players and all of us want to see. It doesn’t matter about any of the other stuff.”
Romo’s passion is commendable but only the team’s victories in the playoffs, if Cowboys qualify for it, will satisfy him.
