So, I'm 15 and I've been dancing since i was 4. I absolutely love dancing. Its my life and I don't know what i would do if I didn't dance. But I'm growing up, and I need to start thinking about careers. I want to earn around 100,000 a year and I'm smart so I could be a doctor. But i love dancing. What should I do? I wanna be a dancer, but they make about 16,000 a year right? Thats barely enough. So please advice?

  1. Hello. I am a dancer and I do ballet, point, jazz, hip-hop, lyrical and tap! I have been dancing since I was 2. When I am older i to want to be a doctor, but still have time to dance!  What I am considering doing is choosing a medical-field that involves less work, but still pays well, like a theripist! I will also have time to dance or maybe teach on the side! I hope this advice helps you through this difficult decision! I know you will chose the one that is best for you! Good l**k and have FUN!

  2. You could be a doctor, realistically, but with the hours you could not do dancing on the side. With any other career that wasn't so involved I would say teach classes on the side.

  3. definitely major in the medical field if you want to be a doctor and maybe minor in dance.

but you may want to consider something less full time then a doctor... maybe a physical therapist or nurse?

if i were you, i would go to college immediately after high school and get my masters degree in whatever you choose to major in.

and keep in mind that its very hard to make a good living out of dancing and you can only dance for a certain number of years in your life.

you can always be on your college's dance team, or take adult classes at a studio. or you could even teach a few dance classes at a studio!

so, again i think your best bet would be to major in something more permanent than dance, but DEFINITELY still be involved in dance somehow (maybe teach kids' dance teams?)

    hope this helps!!!!

    and remember to keep dancing!

    good luck with everything =)

  4. so MAJOR to be a doctor (or whatever you want to be) then MINOR in dance. good luck in your future!!!!!!!

  5. ok...this is a very good question... just think...you will probably have this job for the rest of your life...if you really want to be a dancer money shouldnt be an issue. My dance teacher makes a nice amount of money (i tried to calculate =]) So maybe you would want to open up your own studio? Thats what i want to do..But to be a doctor you have to go through years and years of medical training and if you dont love it you will be hating it for the rest of your life. Hope this helped!
