Question:

For Foreign Service Officers?

I did not pass the QEP. What I'd like to do is invest my disposable time between now and next year to (hopefully) make myself a more attractive candidate to the panel.

My plan has been to study Korean and Spanish. I really do not have a strong volunteer background, I'm not sure if the benefit would off-set the time investment in terms of strengthening my candidacy.

I'd appreciate any advice you can offer.

  1. Study Arabic.  Show a willingness to go to Iraq the State department is lacking in personnel who are willing to risk their lives for their country or endure hardship.  Show a willingness to do these things and I am sure you will be a shoo in.  Its like me and my philosophy of trying to get people to join the Army as Military Police, the more people I can convince to be Military Police the lower my chances are of being recalled from Inactive Reserve and being sent to Iraq again.
