  1. yes, unless you physically disconnect it!! ( unplug it from the modem)

I have a clearwire modem.....all I need is an electrical outlet...nothing more....then put it near any window in my house....I even take it with me on vacation ( check if you got clearwire coverage) and use it in my car....! so I don't need Verizon broadband service for my laptop...I live in NC we get clearwire.com

  2. for  high speed it is connect to the moden which is connected to the phone jack

  3. It depends on how you are receiving your high speed. If you are receiving your high speed @ home via DSL or Cable modem. the" Modem" must  be connected to the phone jack.

The computer goes connected to the modem via "cord  8 pin ethernet ' or if you have a Modem that supports  wireless  cards and you have a wireless card on your computer/ laptop you do not have to have a cord between the computer & the modem. hope this helps.

  4. if you want to be online you need to be connected. the computer does not need to be plugged in to the phone jack when you are not online or the computer is off. you can unplug it  then plug it back in to go online again

  5. Only DSL Internet requires connection to a phone jack.

Otherwise, with Cable Internet, your Internet modem is connected to the Cable TV jack and no connection is required to the telephone jack.

For DSL Internet, only the DSL Modem/Router need to be directly connected to the phone jack.

Then, if you don't want your computer to be "wired" to the DSL modem, then use a "Wireless Router" or Wireless Modem/Router combo at the phone jack.

Then, with a "Wireless Adapter" in your computer, the computer can be located anywhere in the house and "not physically" connected to the phone line - but is "wireless" connected.
