For How long is the EAD valid?

Hello all. Thank you very much for your prompt reply to my last question.

If I apply my I-765 (EAD) based on the K-1 visa (since my K-1 is still valid untill the end of September, 08)-before I get married-then for HOW LONG will that EAD be valid for???

I just dont wanna wait 1 more month untill we get married, because I wanna save time (I mean the one month which I dont wanna wait untill our marriage). So-the plan is to file my EAD application based on my K-1. Does that still sound a good idea???????

Pleease do your best to answer my question based on your experiences.

The processing time of my EAD was 2 1/2 months.The processing time could range from 2-3months.It has a validity of one year from the date it was approved.It can also be renewed if your I-485 or Adjustment of Status is not yet filed or still in process.

As far as i know if your EAD will be on the basis of your K-1 status it will be valid till the end of your K-1 status so till the end of september.

So it's not a good idea because it costs money and then it will be expired you'll have to file for EAD again and it again costs money.

And are you sure that you after getting that EAD - that also takes time - will find your work until it expires?

I would work as a volunteer the time till your EAD that you file after marriage come - you'll earn some local experience and recommendations to be able to find a good work after.

since july 2007

EAD does not require any fee if you are applying or have applied for an adjustment of status.

Usually it takes 12 weeks to get it, the EAD is valid for 6 months while you wait for your GreenCard.

It takes about two-three months for an EAD application to be approved. It costs $340.00. I would recommend to wait until you get married and adjust status and then there won't be an additional fee for the EAD. Good Luck.
