For Indian citizen in UK on work permit,what documents are needed to support a US Tourist Visa application?

I need to apply for tourist visa to US. The visa guidelines mention that intention to return after the pleasure trip needs to be demonstrated through adequate supporting evidence. I would like to ensure I have all the documentation in place before I apply.

A lot depends on your status in the UK - is your period of employment coming to a close, or are you intending to return to a job in the UK?  What is your salary, how long have you been employed there, are you currently in good standing, etc.?  Do you still maintain a residence in your home country?  Do you have adequate funds to support yourself during your visit to the US?  Do you have a return ticket?  Your documentation should answer all of these quesitons.
