I will be arriving in London in a few weeks and I'm trying to plan my trip (via tube) from Heathrow into the city. Is it possible to take the Piccadilly line from Heathrow to King's Cross/St Pancras, then transfer to the Hammersmith & City, Circle, or Metropolitan lines to Great Portland Street?

Im staying at the YHA City of London hostel on Bolsover Street.

  1. yes definitely the tube can be taken to practically any location in london, although asking at the help desk will provide a lot better results than here and they will be a lot more accurate

  2. yeah sure!!it seems like it

works out well as far as i know..

though keep the closures in mind..

so askin the helpdesk would be great idea!

  3. Yep it's easy... when you get off at Kings Cross there will be signs everywhere pointing you towards the Circle or Metropolitan Lines which you'll need to take to Great Portland Street, and the trains all have maps so you know exactly where you are.

    have a good trip!

  4. It is possible to take the journey you want but there is an alternative.  Get on the Piccadilly at Heathrow & change to the Hammersmith & City line in Hammersmith.

There are two lines in Hammersmith, Hammersmith & City is the pink one and Piccadilly line is the blue one. There is no link between the lines so you need to physically leave one station to get to the other but  it's not even a two minute walk between them.

There are plenty of Personnel in the Station who will be able to give you directions and you can use the journey planner on the Transport for London website to work out the walking route:

You could also change to the Circle Line at Gloucester Road or South Kensington.
