I got an RE4 code in the Navy Honorable discharge with the following reason:

MILPERSMAN 1910-122

Separation by Reason of Convenience of the Government - Personality Disorder.

Long story short I was diagnosed with PTSD due to been raped by fellow sailors.

My question is since I am joining the National Guard and they are waiving my RE4 code and I will be serving in my hometown. would I be able to enlist back in the Navy if I want to at some point return to the Navy???

Please only answer if you want to help and not to judge me.

  1. Regulatory guidance would take precedence, but when I recruited for the Army we would submit a waiver requesting exception to the rule. Usually to be successful, we had to prove the reason for discharge no longer exists. Most common was medical issues. You would probably need medical records showing you no longer display any signs or symptoms of PTSD

  2. I would bet my paycheck, the answer is no.

  3. Given you were involuntarily discharged from the Navy, it's most likely they won't be taking you back anytime soon.  I'd just be grateful the National Guard picked you up and stick with that.

  4. honestly: slim chance.  the Navy takes  very few PS( only the AF takes fewer at this time..which is none at all).

currently NO PS are getting in until the new Fiscal year..and even then, the back log of PS wanting back in is very long.

I think you'd have to serve at least one contract in the Guard and get anew RE code before you can even entertain the possibility.  In a few years, maybe the PS window will open up.

  5. i dont know..but im sorry that happened to you

  6. RE-4 means unsuitability for military service.

No evan the national guard cannot waive this, your through with the military. It canot be upgraded.
