For Search Engine Optimization: is using keyword1-keyword2.com as efficient as using keyword1keyword2.com???

for searching "keyw1 keyw2" into google(for example).In order to rank better is it having keyw1-keyw2.com the same efficient as having keyw1keyw2.com??

if not,how big is the difference??

  1. having keywords in your URL can be a benefit, especially over time. If the only way to get those keywords is to include a hyphen in the URL, that may be OK as well. One hyphen is considered fine. However, putting hyphens between each word can be considered spammy and cause your site to not rank well at all if those hyphenated words are competitive.


  2. There are a lot of factors to take into account like how competitive your keywords or market is. You may be better of targeting long tail keywords much easer to rank for.

  3. I can't find it at the moment, but I read recently on a webmaster blog run by google employees that a "-" between keywords in the URL.
