For the test you have to design a cage for the egg and strap it to a cO2 car and ram it into a solid wall. I'll take any ideas I do not want to fail.

  1. Well the first answer might work.  That assignment is given out all the time all over the world and it has been done to death.  Check out the videos in YouTube and see what I mean.  The common one most simpleton engineer students who later fail in the private sector and become teachers use it to build a light metal cage that wont break or bend to much on impact.  Then suspend the egg inside the cage floating right in the middle by gluing/super adhesive rubber bands to the egg (like the kind women buy at Walmart to excercise with maybe $5) and glue the other ends to cage.  Test first.  On impact the egg should wobble around suspended and not break.  Try shaking the cage before testing to see if it does this.

  2. Use heaps of bubble wrap & plastic bags, it works.

  3. Design it in such a way as to prevent the egg from moving

within its container.  Try orienting the egg horizontally

within a cage of large-bubble wrap (1 bubble on each

side).  The egg must not be allowed to move within the cage!

*When orienting the egg, put the smallest curve toward the

front & position its bubble squarely on the curve.

  4. put the egg deep inside a peanut butter jar....that sucker won't break!

  5. You want a design that incorporates a cage within a cage.  The inner cage is supported by it's attachment to the outer cage, and those attachments act as shock absorbers.  You will have to experiment with the materials you have available to determine just how to build this device.  Good luck!
