1. With my first I had them stripped and then I had s*x [OB suggested it]. After my Dr. appt. I had zero contractions. Later that night (30 minutes after s*x) I had REAL contractions. Baby came the next day. (I was supposed to be induced on the 10th and he was born on the 9th!)

With my 2nd baby my membranes were stripped and NOTHING happened (except some mild cramping and light spotting)

I had to be induced a week later.

  2. LOL, about 3 weeks.....nothing like playig the "waiting game".

  3. With <-, I had them stripped at 39 1/2 weeks, and again at 41 weeks. Both times very thoroughly (if it doesn't hurt quite a bit, and there is no blood, then it's no good) and properly.

I ended up getting induced via pitocin at 42 weeks + 5 days.

Having them done next tuesday, to see if it will work for this one...But this time it's being done in conjunction with an herbal 'slow induction' protocol that I started last Tuesday, so there is a better chance of success.

Membrane stipping is not an induction method, it is only an attempt to 'kickstart' labor- it gives you a 50/50 chacne of labor beginnning with 72 hours. If labor is not initiaited within 72 hours then the sweep is considered unsuccesful.

Some people will tell you up to a week, but realistically at 38+ weeks pregnant, there is *no* way to back up that claim.

  4. with my first it was the same day...id say about 8 or 9 hours. with the twins it was about 40 hours.

  5. I went into labor within a few hours of having my membranes stripped.Of course I was already having some mild labor symptoms as well so that might have helped.I also went walking for a little while after wards, then went a layed down and went walking again for a while.
