  1. AMEN plain and simple the people who don't tip are either cheap or boring!!!!!! Either way they can keep it.....

  2. just to remind people responding to this; servers do not get paid very well by the restaurants where they work. in my area they normally make $2.13 an hour. If you as a guest are having such a bad time with your server, get the manager involved. maybe you can get a different server. Depending on the restaurant servers may have to tip out others (host, bartenders, expediters, server assisstants). I think nothing lower than 18% should be given. If you have a problem with tipping go to a fast food restaurant

  3. When I get crappy service, you get a crappy tip. That's your incentive to work hard and be attentive.

  4. First off America is the only country where tipping is considered to be me standard (mandatory, better describes it) I was raised by parents who were not American born and never explained to me the concept of tipping your waiter or waitress.

More recently I have learned about tipping and do so even in places where tips are not expected. I don't stiff, If I'm upset with the service I get I leave a couple of pennies to show my displeasure with they're service, if you stiff a waiter or waitress they might just think you forgot or if you live in a high tourist area like me, that you're just not accustomed to leaving a tip.

I've tipped my waiter over $100 USD, due to outstanding service, on a meal that was about $60 USD. The Order was even sent back.

As far as I see it, as long as the waiter does everything in their power to ensure I have a pleasant dining experience, they'll be smiling all the way to the bank.

*BTW, I do tip at fast food, if the service is fast, during peak hours, to show my respect for they're hard work, I know my *** couldn't flip burgers, and deal with bossy, stuck-up, and rude-for-no-apparent-reason-customers...

  5. I give, but often wonder if I do to little or not enough. Tell me if a meal is $30  what do you EXPECT?

  6. TIP=To Insure Promptness

Paying your employees for doing their job is your responsibility, not mine.

Poor to average service = No Tip

Average to above average = 10-15%

    Superior service = 20%

    Excelent service = 25%+

And yes I'e left a 100+% tip the service was that good.

Everbody now days expects a tip for providing any type of service(?) and it is out of control. At the current rate, soon we'll be expected to tip the cashier at McDonalds, after all they take your order and serve it to you.

  7. I don't know the answer to your question but I just wanna agree with you. TIP PEOPLE!  20% is now standard...the 15% rule is outdated!  To the question about a $30 tab...at least $6!

  8. If the waiter or waitress makes me furious and royaly screws up I might stiff. I rarely do though and can't remember the last time I did.

  9. Servers and waiters/waitresses who have a bad attitude won't get a tip at all, much less a gratuity.
