  1. The day after I became a vegetarian, I wanted fried fish from Long John Silver's.  I didn't give in, and I think it was really just a craving because I realized I would never eat it again (it used to be one of my favorite fast food meals).  I've been a vegetarian for a little over a year and I've never really had any other cravings for foods I wouldn't normally choose to eat.

  2. Going veggie was ok. But I still get serious chocolate cravings. I substitute for sweet williams vegan chocolate, dark chocolate or something sweet like dates or dried fruit.

  3. i was craving a cod dish my family used to make..

  4. First, I went veggie...so I still eat a little bit of what you mentioned, but not a lot. I'm transitioning to vegan (it's a slow process for me lol) and adjusting to things. If you do it slower, I think it makes it easier to get used to the new tastes of veggie/vegan foods.

As far as cravings went, I wanted a burger (lol go figure!)...I found Boca burgers! I had never had one before going veg, and I loooove them! They taste better than hamburgers to me. Also, I am trying to lose weight, and acquire a healthier lifestyle, so a little vegan burger topped with lots of veggies & soy cheese compared to a big ol' nasty hamburger with no veggies and real cheese seemed like  a much better option.

  5. for some reason after i went vegetarian i was practically DYING for gummi snacks.  i have no idea why.

    swedish fish calmed that craving.....

i also used to LOVE bacon....now i use bacon salt.  it's uncanny how much it tastes like bacon!  i have to watch myself so i don't use it too often, since it is salt after all.  (btw, bacon salt was created in part by a vegetarian who apparantly had a pretty bad bacon craving too, lol)

  6. I really haven't missed anything since becoming vegan (for one year now - vegetarian before that).  To be honest, the thought of eating cow pus or animal flesh really makes me ill.

If you're looking for some tasty "ice cream" - check out this link.  The Purely Decadent Dairy Free ice cream is out of this world.

  7. Hi!

    I've never suffered with cravings.

My parents are vegans, and i started as a vegan, later on they gave me all the infos about having a "normal" diet and a vegan diet. Of course, i continued a vegan.

Besides, there's heaps of substitutes for chocolate, ice cream, jello, cookies. That's not a problem!

    Best wishes

  8. Good question. After becoming vegan, I craved (and still do crave) pizza. I acutlally blogged about it not too long ago on my MySpace page.

    Yeah. It's that deep.

I make my own at home with fresh veggies, pesto, soy cheese (sometimes) and all that jazz, but to have a hot, bubbly cheese pizza that I didn't prepare myself makes me weak at times!

    lol.

I really miss the little brown spots on the cheese....

No, I've not found a good, comperable alternative. I've only seen and tried one - Amy's soy cheese pizza and it sucked. Hard. I've tried it more than once. I've cooked it on the oven rack, on a cookie sheet, I've cut down baking time, I've added my own soy cheese, I've added toppings...I've tried darn near everything to make it taste better to no avail.

If you know of a good one, PLEASE let me know!

    ;-D

  9. Not really, I never had cravings. I might have craved chocolate a bit, but it's not hard to find vegan chocolate.

  10. IF u can control ur cravings it would help u Also after some time these cravings will disappear itself

  11. When I became a vegetarian, I didn't really miss anything.  If there is something you like that is meat, then they have a substitute for it.  Like Boca Burgers, Meatless Marshmallows, Dark Chocolate, etc.

  12. Cheesy nachos.  There is no substitute.  Oh well.

  13. Soy Delicious ice cream is amazing!

I craved sweets after I became vegan. Going to Whole Foods quickly remedies this. Their vegan cherry pie is to die for, so are their veg cookies. Newman's Own cookies (look like oreos) are also vegan, Oreos are also technically suppose to be vegan but ALWAYS read ingrediants if a package doesn't say vegan directly.
